Congrats to Hartford on the Whalers returning when this team leaves in lets say 2036.

I’d love to see the Whalers come back. Hockey in cold states is great

The absolute last thing the NHL needs is expansion, it’s diluted enough as it is. Atlanta really needs a third try at a franchise that it won’t support? Really?

Can’t wait for Quebec Nordiques to rise again! Love the Atlanta Flames Thrashers and whatever they call the next ones

How about no more expansion. There's already too many teams in the league.

Unfortunately I think its pretty much guaranteed there will be at least two more expansion teams in the next 5-10 years. I'm just worried the league is getting addicted to the expansion fee cash and we're going to end up with 40 teams in the near future.

It'll be 35 miles north in the red, lily-white suburbs of Forsyth County.

Nothing white rednecks love more than the NHL.

Also, how the f are people going to get to the game when there's a constant 1hr+ long traffic jam at spaghetti junction?

The arena location is nowhere near Spaghetti Junction.

Unless you're coming over from, say, Tucker, you wouldn't need to use the Junction to get to Ga 400.

Blame Tilman Fertitta.

Had he wanted to pay the expansion fee, he could have had Columbus' spot in 2000. Seattle's spot was also seriously considered for Houston.

Then, again, he could have had the Coyotes last year (which is where the NHL wanted them to go), had he been willing to pay.

MFer is cheap, and the NHL doesn't want to dick around with that.

Remember kids, cities don't have franchises. *People* have franchises that play in cities.

If Friedkin is a legit player in the Houston market, they'll be no. 34 to ATL's 33. But if it's all on Fertitta, Houston is DOA.

I googled to find where Forsythe County is. I guess it's ok to call it metro Atlanta, but I wonder if it has enough Yankees there to fill a stadium. Or if it has enough taxpayers to build one?,

It's basically a red-turning-purple exurb of Atlanta.

Is Forsyth County even considered metro Atlanta? That would basically be twice the distance away than Trust Park is.

At that point, no use even referring to the team as Atlanta. Just call them the Georgia Thrashers or whatnot.

In before he responds back that he doesn't need your validation because he's living a great life with a beautiful wife and daughter, 5 minutes before he posts in another thread about how so-and-so random 55 yr old washed-up celebrity would "definitely get it"

Whole lot of Asians and South Asians taking that area over. I'll stay in my nice lily white intown Mayberry enclave.
