If Michigan wins, wash will be 3 and UGA will be 2. If Wash wins Mich will be 2 and UGA 3.

Perhaps since Texas beat Bama, who beat Georgia?
For fricks sake….the transitive property doesn’t work in football! Period. Literally every year it gets empirically proven but idiots still try to incorporate it in their logic.
When called out on it, typically proponents double down on the cognitive dissonance and claim that a playoff is more “pure” and regular season outcomes don’t matter at all in evaluating teams.
It’s a huge reason of why a deep, multi round playoff is wrong for the sport. But watch a 16 or even 20 team playoff get pushed in a few years.

UGA and Bama will be 3 and 4. Texas at 5,
6. Oregon
7. Ole Miss
8. Mizzu
9. Ohio St/LSU
10. Ohio St/LSU
Then again, they might keep FSU top 10 because of only one loss. LSU is right on the cusp of finishing top 10.

That list makes zero sense.
If bama beat Georgia and won the sec… why the frick would Georgia be ranked ahead of them?

I know it doesn’t matter anymore but most people still consider Georgia to be the true #1
They botched the SECCG but damn they would have waxed any CFP teams and murdered the team in the championship.

I have no idea how they have Washington at 12 but they try to justify it in the article.
Garbage list.

They won't. Georgia in fact is the best team in the land -- they should be #1 based on eye test alone. They've consistently played the best football all year long

So that's why you need multiple formulas, because not every team is accurately read by each formula.
quote:Aha, that's the issue. Washington doesn't blow teams out. That win over Texas was something like their 9th 1-score game.
-Rankings and scores predictions are based on 20,000 simulations of a team’s season and games, using a combination of key analytics, including scores to date, quality of opponents, team talent, recruiting, and a team’s schedule.
-Teams are ranked not in order of talent like in other rankings, but by a projected point margin per game against an average team on a neutral field.
Meanwhile, Penn State is #5 because they get a bump from playing Michigan AND Ohio State, and another from scores because they slaughter the rest of the Big 10 by 20-30 pts a game.
I suppose "team talent and recruiting" is why Ole Miss and Mizzou aren't even on this list.

Texas has two losses why would they be ahead of Georgia?
Because they beat the team that beat them.

Then shouldn’t Bama be ahead of Georgia???
Yes

Those results cannot subvert what actually happened in the games

I do not understand the ongoing lovefest LSU fans have with UGA.
I have no “love fest” with UGA, they did not deserve to be in the playoff. But they are 13-1 and will be at worst #3 in the final poll most likely

Michigan and Washington will be 1/2 there is zero doubt about that. Look at last year even after our drubbing of TCU they still finished 2nd. With UM/UW both currently being undefeated they are locked in for 1/2.
The fact that texas and bama both have 2 losses SHOULD solidify UGA as finishing 3rd but who knows.
