2011 LSU and Saints were two of my favorite teams of all time to watch. Unfortunately, both ended their seasons with gut-wrenching losses

early 90s Bills

for sure.

I can remember a lot of people getting tired of them making it to the SB back then.

that first SB against the Giants it was a shame someone had to lose that one. That was one of the greatest SB's ever.

Ran into a brilliant Redskins team the next year.

and then saw a great Cowboys team back-to-back.

Under any other circumstances they may have made a special place in history besides just 4 consecutive Super Bowls.

It's hard to overstate how radical they were in capitalizing on the new illegal contact rules.
This. But people under estimate another rule change besides the illegal contact ( Mel Blount rule) & it was the blocking rules. O- Lineman were allowed to extend their hands & grab defenders as long as it's not outside his shoulder pads. Today's blocking was considered " holding " before 1978.

Really opened the game up & passing records Began to fall.

LMU's run and gun.

Westhead's teams led Division I in scoring in 1988 (110.3 points per game), 1989 (112.5), and 1990 (122.4).

LMU's 122.4 point per game in 1990 was still a record as of 2020.
