A jury deliberated for just 30 minutes on Friday before it acquitted former University of Wisconsin wide receiver Quintez Cephus on charges alleging that he sexually assaulted two female students. Cephus, 21, was suspended from the football team last August and was expelled from the university earlier this year for violating its non-academic misconduct code. It wasn't immediately clear how the verdict would affect his status with the school and team.

Not sure if anybody was following the trial, but it was a joke. One of the "victims" claimed to not remember anything at all, yet testified that she was raped. Video had here walking back to her dorm not fumbling with her room key, not stumbling at all, and not showing any signs of impairment. Basically a regretted threesome that turned into a #metoo

See I'll never understand this. Like if you weren't impaired and there's video evidence of that why would accuse some of rape just cause you regretted it? Seems like if you regretted doing something you'd probably wanna keep it to yourself and not tell anyone especially if you know there's a chance it'll blow up in your face like this.

I’m a huge Badger fan but I hope he sues the school for expelling him for a title IX violation and I hope he wins and they pay big.

This whole thing stunk from the second his attorney detailed the video evidence from the apartment building and from the dorm. As well as the texts where she texted him the next day to ask if she left her Juul there.

Crazy thing was yesterday where the one guy said he took a pic and the girl later asked him to erase it. That was it he won the case there.

Cephus also testified that while at the apartment, the alleged victims did not stop him from “rubbing and fingering” them, which he believes is considered consent.

The Jury is currently commenting on the O-T about the #MeToo Movement.

At the apartment, Rogoff remembers talking with Davis in the living room, while the two victims and Cephus split off. Rogoff reported feeling “very intoxicated” at this time. Like Davis recounted, after a period of time, she watched Victim 2 run out of the apartment.

She was really anxious to leave,” Rogoff said of Victim 2.

Rogoff said Victim 1 then emerged from Cephus’ room and she looked upset and wanted to go home. Rogoff expressed concern about Victim 2 walking home alone, so after she, Davis and Cephus dropped off Victim 1, Rogoff said they headed to Sellery, like Davis testified.

This is not what consent looks like

None of us knows exactly what happened, but this is not what absolute guilt looks like either.

Cephus said she left the room because she got upset after an argument with the other woman

Good point. I was not in the courtroom. I would like to see the testimony to see who I believed.

But soon came to the agreement they were raped?

So a drunk person is not credible to testify...but 2 drunk women are able to consent...even though they testified they were too drunk?

Also like to mention that the jury (which included 6 women) came to a verdict in 45 minutes. Obviously they weren’t convinced by the womens’ testimonies along with no real evidence.

This is what he said about it
quote:

Asked whether Cephus believed the women were "plotting'' against him, he testified they "could have been.'' He also maintained that despite saying they were intoxicated, "they knew what they were doing.''

He said he didn’t see them drink very much, the video evidence didn’t show the first girl stumbling around like she claimed, and she was the one who wanted a “sleepover” with him.
