really? you dont understand how the constant news coverage surrounding one man by the worlds largest sports agency could change the national perception of him in relation to another who never got 1/10th of the same coverage?

Was he really that big of a deal to warrant this much coverage?

Did you go?

Gayle benson greeted people for like 9 hours the other day. Maybe you don't think it was warranted but many many people proved that it was.

ESPN was on when I was at lunch earlier and they showed a live look in at the funeral. I mean Benson is a big deal to us in NOLA, but like everyone else said nationally he isn't some huge figure.

The answer to your question is that Tom Benson was not a national figure and did nothing to help advance or change the NFL.

As for your desire to see him celebrated, condolences to his family, but to the citizens of Louisiana, Benson was a giant corporate welfare queen.

How many times did Benson "renegotiate" terms to receive all manner of direct state funding and other preferences to create revenue streams for himself in order to keep the team in the city. He was loyal to no one but himself, which makes him a great businessman but not a community hero.

What a production.
Two days of viewing. Third day is the private funeral.
Locally?

Of course.

Tom didn't have anywhere near the national profile JJ does or Al Davis or Lamar Hunt type owners did. Not. even. close.

dude only made the biggest contribution of all time to the hall of fame and was massively respected by almost all NFL owners.

Little off topic but I can't remember the last time Drew and AD were together in public as they were today. I know both go to the other's games every now and then but very little events where you see both.
