We traveled 30k to memphis for the Liberty Bowl in 98. I don't know how many would go but it would be a hell of a lot more than 2,100. I would suspect 15,000 minimum.

and it was 50/50 Tulane and USL. Not bad for a minor bowl
I was there. No it wasn’t.

Yes.

They’ll face LSU in the Sugar Bowl and get smoked.

There's no minimum ranking applied to that?

No. Bowls are about selling tickets. Tulane can't even get "fans" to attend home games.

#15

If Tulane goes 12-1 with 2 wins over Cincinnati then they’ll be top 15

Cotton Bowl* is the automatic tie in for G5 teams.
2 teams (Cincinnati & Tulane) aren’t both getting into a NY6 bowl, so sugar bowl is out of the question.

"In 98"? Typical greenie fan, living in the past. 25 years ago in the past.

Tulane has a great shot, but you have to win every game to do it, and that's the rub.

The remaining schedule features:

at Tulsa (this is the easy part)
vs. UCF (who are inconsistent but can be deadly)
vs. SMU (see UCF)
at Cincy (top 20 team)

AAC title game (vs. Cincy/UH/ECU/UCF)

They're at 7-1 now, but I think they finish at 10-3 and get a pretty nice bowl against an iffy P5 team as a reward.

No dog in this fight. Lived in both Lafayette and New Orleans. Happy Tulane is having a good year and hope to see them win out. Having said that it was more like 80/20 Cajun fans in the dome that night. They had all 3 decks filled and the bottom two levels going all the way to Tulane’s sideline. Tulane had the bottom level on their side filled goal line to goal line and then the club level was mixed with red and green.

Would love to see this. But I think Tulane loses one more.

12-1 Brings no ifs. 11-2 with a conference title brings ifs.

Should be on paper… but for whatever reason this game will come down to the wire and be like a 4 OT barn-burner

the highest attendance for a home game that year was 37k. No fricking way you brought 30k to the liberty bowl

Attendance was 52k, and Memphis isn’t far from NOLA, they might have
