I will never understand people like this.

Gets paid millions of dollars to play a sport, one of the absolutely best jobs in existence, and throws tantrums like a fricking child.
He is an embarrassment.
It’s worse than that.
His biggest complaint is that he folded under pressure last year during the playoffs and embarrassed himself. Pretty much, he was the reason they lost.
This is him dealing with the adversity of failure. He’s a child.

“Everyone blames me for us losing!!! WAH!!!”
“How many points did you make in the fourth against the Bucks? How many shots did you even take?”
“That’s not fair!”

I don’t think that is really his rep. Maybe compared to Bob Knight, but in terms of modern coaches, especially in the pros, he is middle of the road.

It's pretty wild because the kid is so talented. He just can't handle the criticism to his game.

It should be to most, but in contracts and him trying to get out, he is going to go by exactly what they say not what they infer. I am sure his agent has advised him not to practice because that is not what was asked of him to get his money. That is why I asked if the NBAPA will get involved and what the Sixers have told him to do.

So it is conduct detrimental to the team, but they have fined him because he showed up. They never said he had to be in shape.
The NBAPA is going to have to act like they care. They are also going to have to fight for reducing suspensions in next CBA that there must be a process or whatever.
I am sorry, there is a lot to fight on this one. I do not think he should be paid, but as of now, the NBAPA is going to have to say something, either support or not support. Sixers can say it is an internal matter, but they made it public.
This is a clown take.

It’s not unwarranted criticism either.
Him having no distance to his shot limits the spacing when he is on the floor and him not being able to hit a FT to save his life has mind-fricked him on the floor to where he passes rather than risk getting fouled and being sent to the line.

This is the Player Conduct in CBA It does not say much about participating just attending.
Section 2. Practices.
(a) When a player, without proper and reasonable excuse, fails to
attend a practice session scheduled by his Team, he shall be subject to the
following discipline: (i) for the first missed practice during a Season --
$2,500; (ii) for the second missed practice during such Season -- $5,000;
(iii) for the third missed practice during such Season -- $7,500; and (iv) for
the fourth (or any additional) missed practice during such Season -- such
discipline as is reasonable under the circumstances.
(b) Notwithstanding Section 2(a) above, when a player, without proper
and reasonable excuse, refuses or intentionally fails to attend any practice
session scheduled by his Team, he shall be subject to such discipline as is
reasonable under the circumstances
Go to Section XXXI and read how he is possibly to get an arbitration out of this.

Did they say he had to practice or just be there?
Doc told him to participate in a defensive drill and he refused.
If this is your standard then why doesn’t everyone just refuse to participate in practices and still get their money?

They aren’t punishing him for missing practice
At least not today they aren’t

Liking Embiid more and more and disliking Simmons more and more. Simmons is such a punk.

Will the NBAPA fight this
They will lose like they always do. I think they know it, too. This is heading towards nuclear options by the owners if another major name does this.

They should send Simmons to the G League to get in some practice. His ego wouldn’t be able to handle that
If the team doesn’t pay him his teammates are going to have the teams back. Silver is going to have to develop a spine at some point when the team decides to suspend Simmons without pay for the season. The dude is right there in terms of material breach of his contract. At least that is an argument the team and the league should make

I agree with you but the NBAPA has to fight for its players and take a stand somewhere. I can not wait to see what the new CBA ends up looking like in terms of suspensions and practice guidelines. If the players want te revenue they have to give in on this one. But when you have leadership that makes Gene Upshaw look competent, it is hard to take them seriously.

Someone on Twitter was saying Simmons went to a strip club after getting kicked out of practice. A Philly strip club at lunchtime on a Tuesday - ain't no young Halle Berrys or young Audrey Hepburns dancing there. You're getting chicks with bullet wounds and fresh C-section scars.

Would be the best thing for the league.
Players need to be reigned in.
No more guaranteed contracts.
No more super teams.
No more agencies run by active players.
frick Lebron, Klutch, AD, Ball, Simmons and every other dick riding pussy who just has to be in LA, Miami, Chicago or NYC.
