You’ve allowed the liberal media to poison your mind. Seek help immediately.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with showing respect to your country even if it’s something as simple as standing for the national anthem and putting your hand over your heart. Absolutely nothing wrong with that at all.

We are the only country that plays the national anthem before domestic games.

Football is in the locker room during the anthem. Is he gonna ask to pull the scholarships?

Proves how dumb it is to play before domestic games, should be only played before international games.

My wife and I always stand and always sing the lyrics of the national anthem. That is our tradition.

All I ask is that folks remain quiet during the anthem. I do not care whether they stand or not. Just do not disrupt my tradition.

Yes, it has no purpose in domestic entertainment. We don't play the National Anthem before movies or other entertainment. It was to make everyone feel better about entertaining themselves while people died overseas.

Stop the madness.

Agreed. I couldn't imagine not standing and singing for the anthem. But I also DGAF what anyone else does because it's their business and I'm not a sensitive child who lets others' actions affect me. As long as you're not impeding what I do, I really couldn't care less what you feel like doing. This country was built on personal freedoms, and exercising yours is your right.

wow! you actually believe this shite?

first off, there are stories of the song being played at Baseball games (not every single game, but still) as far back as the 1890's.
I don't think we were in very many foreign wars at that time.
It was played at the Polo Grounds and then old Yankee Stadium when it was first built (a time that once again, we were not at war with anyone).
Hell, it wasn't even known as the national anthem yet during that time.

and it slowly gained popularity from then going forward and was played semi-regularly before it became a league wide thing.

but I'll humor you and go with WWII era when it became standard practice for every single game played.

it sure a shite wasn't done as a "everybody look at me, I'm patriotic!" gesture.
which is what Virtue Signaling would infer.

The Star Spangled Banner at a Baseball game was just a part of the game.
Just like Take Me out to the Ballgame.

Started small, gained in popularity, became a tradition.

it became "Virtue Signaling" very recently when people decided to use THAT moment as their spotlight to make political statements in a divisive time.

same thing with visiting the White House.
happened once, then again here and there, then just sorta became a tradition to invite all Champions.

I like to keep my standing and kneeling at home to keep my family guessing if I’m on team Murica or not. When I see them sleeping I might drop a knee. Never know. It’s usually a game day decision.

not true.

Canadians do it as well.
other countries do it for bigger events, but not every game like we do.

I thought it was a thing you did live.

Like soldiers don’t salute pictures of their commanders.

If I am at home and the National Anthem is playing, I stand in the living room at attention and salute the same I do at a live sporting event. I don't do it because I'm looking for attention but out of respect as a military veteran.

If I an physically present at an event and the National Anthem is played, I consider myself a participant and stand and sing.

If I am watching on TV or listening on radio, I consider myself an observer. I would not stop my vehicle, pull over, and stand.

or do you just do it at a Live sporting event so people can see you do it? Why does it even matter?

as someone who served in the marines for 8 years, i can say with absolute honesty, i have never once stood for the national anthem at my house.......why you may ask? because i'm not in the presence of the flag. on base or anywhere that a flag is flown, if in uniform, you stop and face the flag and salute it while its playing. if you're in civilian attire, you stand at attention facing the flag.

the only place i ever stood for the national anthem INSIDE and NOT NEAR A FLYING FLAG, was in our base movie theatres, they would show a flag on the screen and play the national anthem before any movie started, and everyone stood then.

at my house, watching a game on TV, with no flag flying or being shown, no, i don't and would not stand for that.

Spanish-American War, Philippine-American War, and Boxer Rebellion come to mind. I have no idea whether they were linked with the anthem or not during that time.

Agreed. I’m going to keep doing it before office meetings though.
