Only five schools have more Final Four appearances than them: North Carolina, UCLA, Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas. Michigan State is absolutely a blueblood.

Doesn't make them a blue blood.

No. I'd put them in that "second tier". In no certain order:

First tier:
UCLA
North Carolina
Kansas
Kentucky
Duke

Second tier:
Indiana
Arizona
Syracuse
UConn
Villanova
Michigan State
Louisville

So, the actual "blue bloods?" Michigan State is in the second tier.

Any school from Big East in not a blue blood. ESPN made Big East basketball. Blue bloods are any school dominance prior to ESPN. I wouldn't even call Duke a blue blood.

Indiana absolutely is not a blue blood.

Yes they have 5 titles, but blue bloods don't have a 63% win %

Assembly Hall is the Carnegie Hall of basketball, let's not forget their candy cane warmup pants, no last names on the back of jerseys, their innovative place in the sport with the motion offense

You must've been born after the year 2000 to think this

This brings up an interesting point. If most of your school's success is from one coach, are you really a blueblood?

Well Duke is most certainly a blue blood.

In my opinion, yes. It doesn't matter to me how many coaches succeeded at X school.

It’s impressive as hell, but they need to win a title before they join the “second tier.”

But I have a hard time with Michigan State and the same goes for UCLA. Indiana

UNC, Duke, and Indiana and Kansas barely won squat during UCLA's two Decade reign.

North Carolina won 1 fricking title in 1957 and nothing until 1982.

Kansas won 1 fricking title in 1952 and then nothing until 1988.

Your idea of Blue Blood is akin to saying Michigan Football is the greatest program of all-time based on win totals while Alabama or USC or Notre Dame are second-tier.

You play to win the game. UCLA won more titles by an OUTSTANDING disparity...it makes Alabama football seem pathetic this last decade. End of story.

And Michigan State isn't a blueblood. They were just Magic for 30 years...until Izzo...and recency isn't blueblood.

Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and Kentucky are all that really matter in college basketball

Anyone else doesn't make the cut

Ergo blueblood.

Dominating the past is the fricking definition of blueblood.

Plus they went to 3 consecutive Final Fours recently. Blue blood is old money. Not Johnny come lately.
