I've never understood how anyone finds this guy entertaining. He's a charcataure of a characature who isn't self-aware he's a charcataure.

The Jim Everett bit was clearly staged as well and it's basically his only calim to fame.

He's also a west coast guy, right? All LA-based sports talk radio has a very strange and weird vibe to it.

Peak Rome? There never has been. The only "peak Rome" will be the day after his last day on the radio.

He is the Sean Hannity of sports talk.
Repeats himself constantly, same spiel over and over because he loves to hear himself talk, interrupts everyone. He is and always was a buffoon.
Guy is an arrogant douchebag.

I'll sneak a listen if I'm out driving mid-day. I think it's hilarious Nick Caserio is a regular caller/clone.

I've always loved the drops. You know when he says a certain word it's followed by the drop. Cheesy but funny.

Listening to Jim Rome discuss modern topics would trip me out. I think the last time I heard him he was weighing in on Charles Woodson’s Heisman.

I listen when I have a break. He’s funny, but tons of inside jokes to keep up with.

Rack ‘em!

Circa 1999 I befriended a guy I worked with who was about 15 years older than me. He was a huge sports fan and turned me onto Rome. About a year later he passed away from a heart attack. I always associate Bill with Jim Rome.

I did get a fax read on his show once.

Rome was one of the first to bring a new life to sports discussions, mixing it with some comedy and not just focusing on one local team or one sport. Far more influential than people think, IMO. His takes on sports were decent and because of the passion and enthusiasm in his show, he was able to score some good interviews.

It was never about how entertaining Rome was. It was about how entertaining the clones were.
