ESPN calls them that because SLI / USL/ ULLLLL's SID bugs the shite out of them every off season. REALLY bugs them.

Yes, so that they can subvert the spirit of the rules around their name.

No one wants to waste the political capital to put them in their place, so it’s probably a losing battle unfortunately. They’ll win by default.

Hmm. I was there last night also and thought it was close to 75% full.

That’s laughable they say 22,000 were there 15 tops
22,000 paid with 15,000 actual people in the seats in a 31,000 seat stadium?

That's Junior College numbers right there. (They don't call it SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA JUNIOR COLLEGE for nothing!)

Ramblin Acadian fans didn't even turn out to see local boy Walker Howard return to Lafayette, as the Acadians lost to powerhouse Rice 14-12.

I was born and raised in Lafayette and would not have gone even with free tickets.

I was watching LSU-Clemson.

They are ULL and no matter how they try to market it . I also agree that USL and NLU were better names for these schools . They try too hard to be something they are not .

I don't think NLU ever wanted to change their name. They were basically forced into it

What narrative? I do t care either way. I simply said I was at the game and it was less than half full. It certainly wasn’t 75% full like the guy above said. There were entire sections empty. The student section was about 1/4 full even.

I don’t care either way about ULL football. We’ll be at some of the games bc my stepdaughter is on the Ragin’ Jazz dance team.

It was a good crowd considering 99% of the state was watching LSU. Not gonna sit here and argue fricking percentage full metrics.

We should be arguing about whether Choupique will be wearing McNeese colors or purple and gold in Lafayette this upcoming Saturday. Or will he stay home and watch LSU

I agree the Louisiana branding is retarded and false advertising. They are USL or in the least ULL. Branding them as Louisiana makes them look dumb. It's as if Eastern Michigan or Central Michigan had Michigan on the front of their jerseys and asked that they be called Michigan University.

Not even remotely a comparison, neither of those universities are named "University of Michigan at X"

Better comparisons would be Nebraska-Lincoln Cornhuskers, the Illinois-Urbana-Champaign Fighting Illini, the Maryland-College Park Terrapins, the Texas-Austin Longhorns.....and on and on. All of those sound retarded, so is insisting on saying the location of the most relevant University of Louisiana.
