Exactly, it matters very little which player is asking him to do something. He should do it regardless.
I've played sports my entire life and I never got this kind of stuff. In high school baseball the seniors delegated the jobs. The younger players had to carry the heaviest equipment and do the most menial jobs in field preparation. But I would never make somebody carry my stuff. I could see making the rookies do some extra stuff that the vets wouldn't, but carrying another player's equipment just seems like petty BS.

Roy Williams is a fricking bitch.. I do think Dez should participate in the rookie hazing but it makes it pretty hilarious that he wont do anything for Williams.

sounds like he punked the frick out of Roy Williams.
He said he is not getting anyones pads. The NFL is an elite group, its just a way to show you are putting in some dues as the new guy. Look if he wants to make a big deal about something, wait till they make you do something a little more than carry another dudes pads. Quit being a prima donna bitch and do it.
ETA: Also here in houston they had a former NFL guy on, Marcus Coleman, and he said usually in step 2 the O-line and D-line get involved.
He said he's seen some crazy stuff in his day and not to worry he is gonna get his.

No single person is bigger than the team. If it's team tradition to carry equipment when you're a rookie, then carry the damn equipment. Who does it hurt? NOBODY.
I think that's the key issue here. We're talking about a harmless activity that Bryant refuses to participate in. It's not like Andre Royal beating Cam Cleeland with a bag full of quarters. This is stuff so simple and "all in good fun" that it really makes no sense to refuse it.
UNLESS... you are so obsessed with your pride that you absolutely can't allow yourself to be SEEN for even a second carrying a teammate's equipment. Because that would be horrible and embarassing, right? I mean, someone might tease you, or god forbid, take a photograph that no one else would care about but YOU.
This is a foreshadowing of problems to come in the NFL for Dez Bryant. You'll see.

Williams just knows that it's only a matter of time before he loses out his job to him, so he's trying to get at him.
Ultimately, this is the truth. My brother-in-law played in the NFL for nine years...and let me tell you, it is a dog-eat-dog world when it comes to vets and rookies. A lot of this has to do with the structure of an NFL contract, you can be out of a job at any point.
The hazing aspect is just a way to keep the rookies in check...but, it burns any NFL vet to have a rookie come in who could take their spot at any time.

I really wonder if all of the people defending Dez have ever been in a team environment.
This issue really isn't black and white...definitely shades of gray.....Dez definitely should have bit the bullet but don't think for a second that Roy doesn't know what he's doing.....He is definitely trying to frick with the person that's set to take his job.....there were endless others he could have got to tote his shite, just by luck it was Dez

How much you wanna bet some Vet has already talked with Dez and told him "Tote his shite, he won't be here long anyway"....this will die, I hope not cause I hate the cowboys, but it will.....
I agree.. But the fact that he has to be told this by other players shows signs of immaturity. Draft picks much higher than Dez have been hazed, and by players much less respected than RW. He should smile, take his pads, and commence to asking Roy how many weeks he expects to hold onto his job? Does he have plans after football? "carrying your pads shouldn't be any harder than carrying your position", etc...

I hope that happens and Dez presses charges, that would be awesome

Once Dez is out there making circus catches and scoring touchdowns bringing the fans to their feet, none of this will matter one iota.
The media has a constant stiffy for anything involving the cowboys especially if they can somehow try to stir controversy among the team. Its kind of funny. It won't effect anything that happens on the field which is all I care about.

what a bitch move by dez. as a giant fan i love this because its only going to cause tension and division in the locker room. stuff like this kills team chemistry.

You are absolutely correct....definitely some immaturity there, but I think he would have done it for anyone else(even though he said otherwise)....I think that Roy is a bigger pos for picking him versus anyone else...

Wait, wait, wait! I will acknowledge the medias "stiffy" for the Cowboys, but lets be real; Jerry's hand is under the table stroking that wood anytime he can. If he wants a "glamour" franshise like the Yankees, Celtics, Lakers, etc... then this level of media plays into it.
The media finds every little thing, b/c the cowboys expose every little thing. Jerry wouldn't have it any other way. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Dez Bryant aint no bitch.
Williams is a lazy jackass anyways. If it was someone who produces I might see the veteran's angle. But its Williams. F him.

I'd like to see what Dez Bryant would do if Bill Parcels were still the coach.

mostly agree
sometimes rookies make a name standing up for themselves too... being a pussy gets you no credibility either
Strahan told a story about some no name veteran trying to call out Shockey his rookie season... Shockey ignored him for a while and then the two of them fought for a while - boom, rep established as won't take bullshite from assholes
