Derrick Henry is on pace to break Emmit Smiths all time TD record.

He needs 36 more tds. He's already got 6 this season through 3 games.

I’d imagine they will likely limit his running a bit more as he ages (Allen). He’s been very fortunate with injuries so far.

Would love to see him do it. It would mean much more. Emmitt usually had the best OL to run behind. Never really cared for Emmitt……. I was always team Barry!

The metric that absolutely blows Smith out of the water through Year 10 is YPA - 4.9 vs 4.3 is insane. Now consider the 4.9 was the metric without an OL so great it had its own nickname. No Larry Allen, no Nate Newton, no Erik Williams, no Mark Stepnoski. No Moose Johnston leading the way. Far inferior QB play (Aikman was overrated but far better than what Henry had for 8 of those 10 years). Inferior receiving threats to distract compared to Irvin / Novacek / Harper and the only thing close was 3 years of early AJ Brown. Less talented defense giving him less opportunities to gash late and more throwing from behind. Less talented coaching by far compared to the Switzer/Johnson staffs. Smith had the advantage in supporting cast at literally every level and the gap is still that large
Henry clears by a mile and I’m not sure what else more he needs for consensus that he’s in that top tier. I was the biggest hater in the world of his coming out of Bama and thought he was mid and entirely a function of his OL / Birmingham holding calls but there’s no denying his greatness at this point. I didn’t think we’d get better than AP in the modern game but he’s long passed that point

Absolutely. Henry is a much better RB than Emmitt was. Henry with the Dallas lines would have been even more insane.

If there's one rb who is just different than the rest, it's Henry. For as big as he is, his durability is impressive. As the league decided to shift towards receiving backs, he's a throw back rb who's dominated the decade
