Something like he suspected his girlfriend of cheating and wrestled the phone from her to check it. It doesn’t sound like Domestic Violence is the primary charge, but an enhanced charge to the original property misdemeanor.
If he beat her up, then wrestled the phone from her to prevent her from calling the cops, then he would have been arrested for DV, and the property misdemeanor would be a second charge.

He probably didn't press the charges. Cause he's not a woman. He needs to ghost that bitch permanently. Chalk it up as lessons learned. Better to learn them now than later.
