Learning to code is not such a good idea either these days.

Boom! Karma for going after that young chiefs fan

Honestly, that was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Deadspin has been in the shitter for years now.

The fact that Julie DiCaro was senior editor there shows what kind of lunatics were running that place.

Carron J Phillips got one last race baiting article in about Kim Mulkey this AM
Just went and read it. It's unbelievable that guy was paid money to be a sportswriter. That was such a poorly written and dishonest article . He starts the article with the Michelle Obama about "when they go low, we go high" . USC's coach had to apologize because her team was responsible. And what does race have to do with Kim Mulkey talking about the situation. His stance is that, because Kim's white, she shouldn't be commenting on a fight between 2 black girls. Even tho, you know, she's the coach of the team.

Correct.

This was basically Deadspin 3.0

The original version was the irreverent one we all knew for years under the Gawker Media umbrella that covered ESPN (and its talent) closely and eventually broke the Manti Te’o story.

After Gawker Media went belly up after the Hogan lawsuit, it got sold to G/O Media after Gawker shuttered. That was when their entire staff walked out after revolting over G/O’s mandate to avoid politics and stick to sports.

After sticking to sports for a while, they basically dove back into the realm of political theatrics, which got them where they are today.

Given all the negativity out there it's so heartwarming when you finally get an uplifting story like this

It's truly amazing that these people just don't get it. The market is telling you to stay away from politics. Go apply for a political website, if that's what you want to work on.

Deadspin's writers and editors were given 30 minutes notice of losing their jobs before being locked out of their company laptops, per senior editor Julie DiCaro.

They’d rather make $40k and go fund me for their cat’s surgery than “get it”. Being a raging pussy is who these people are and always will be. If they posted here they’d be on the ot posting as moderates.

it isn’t
this is (was) deadspin 3.0
after gawker sold to Univision, Univision sold to private equity. Shortly after that, the “original” deadspin’s entire staff quit en masse. Those were the manti teo deadspin.

Those folks currently run a site called “defector” and it’s pretty good if you liked the old deadspin. It’s entirely employee owned

ETA didn’t see feral’s post above. Same…

Sports “journalists” as a whole have a massive inferiority complex compared to their regular news/political counterparts.

Good riddance. They had one last shitty take about the LSU-USCe girls fight yesterday:

quote:

Instead of calming things down, a white woman poured gasoline on a situation that involved a fight between Black women. Mulkey’s privilege somehow found a way to shine brighter than one of those tacky outfits she wears on the sidelines. She was so bad on Sunday that she spent time in the postgame press conference informing us that she didn’t know the rules, as she was wondering about potential punishments for the coaches.

I was beat to it
