thats where i stand now, seems impossible. i suppose if he really wanted to clear his name he will be able to though.
Exactly. Pople are saying well he met her in PA...she went to Hawaii...he talked to her family...
All could be BS lies made up by Teo bc he went down this rat hole and was really, really embarrassed.
That said, I think he used it for publicity.

He's not gay. If he is, this is just so bizarre and way out of the ordinary of gay athletes.

My point is that I'm sure he had no idea how big that story would become.
So he couldn't have done it for publicity.
I mean, let me get this straight... he duped his parents, friends, etc. for months because he was plotting on going public saying that his girlfriend died of Liukemia after she got in a car accident, all for some publicity?
Sorry, but that doesn't really add up...
And believe it or not, this isn't the dumbest thing a human being has ever done.
I don't know how long you have lived on this Earth, but there are people out there that will do fricking anything for 15 minutes of fame.
You're underestimating the retardation of some people.

ESPN knew?
How come we keep hearing things on the Internet/twitter about huge stories about to break bringing down some big school for their cheating ways (and it never happens), but for this legit story we heard nothing until it was posted?

I hope our Hawai'ian recruit isn't a head case like this guy.

ESPN fricking blows
Not surprised one bit
Too bad Poyntner Review is no longer writing critiques for them because I would love to read an ethical interpretation of that

not really.
he was scared of what his parents and teamates would think so he pretends his BF is really his GF to throw them off the trail.
His parents start getting nosey and want to meet the girl, he panics and says she is in a car wreck.
They still want to see her so he says she gets leukemia and dies thinking they will leave him alone.
Meanwhile fame whore dad talks to the press about it b/c he thinks its an incredible story (which it would be) that will help his son and Manti starts getting questioned about it.
He panics more and keeps up the lie that he had a GF all this time b/c he doesn't know how to break it to his parents that he is gay and knows there is still a huge locker room stigma and doesnt want to jeopardize his football future.
