Like I said, he had to keep going with the story after he saw the pub it was getting him. He was initially embarrassed he got duped, but he saw the benefits this whole dead girlfriend thing were going to bring him so he had to keep it going.

If I was his new lawyer/agent Tom Condon..I would send him out tomorrow early morning with a statement admitting it was a joke taken too far and he got caught up in the lie and didn't know how to get out...admit he has hurt and decieved many people and he his committed to working on his problems and focus on the draft...
