I can't be the only one thinking the ND AD was full of shite saying the Te'os were going to announce this next week, right?
you are not.

Apparently deadspin tried to reach several people for comment on the story, including Teo, his dad and ND, so they at least had a few hours to try to get out ahead of it.

What's going to be crazier, the actual lie; the lies that Manti, his family and ND are throwing out to protect that lie; or the media's general acceptance of those lies?

well espn is too worried about what lebron tweeted about the orange bowl. its clear their focus isnt on investigation at all. which is fine i suppose,
ESPN is the TMZ of the sports world these days. Nothing more.

im just thankful as well there are sites like deadspin.
That's what I was getting at. Without a Deadspin that actually puts out news then this and so many other stories over the years never come out.

I mean Ray Lewis murdered a guy and will be in the HoF one day.

I'm not so sure about that.

According to ESPN's Todd McShay, the initial reaction among NFL scouts has been "very negative" to Wednesday's revelation that Notre Dame ILB Manti Te'o's allegedly deceased girlfriend never existed.
McShay is in Los Angeles for this week's NFLPA bowl, a postseason all-star game with 70-plus scouts in attendance. "It was amazing," McShay said. "You could kind of sense everyone in the stands watching practice starting to read their phones and the story regarding Te'o. And within 20 minutes from the end of practice I had spoken to more than ten NFL scouts, all coming up to me asking if I had more information. ... The initial reaction was very negative. But in the long run, NFL teams have their own security departments. And they're going to get to the bottom of this story. They are relentless in pursuit of truth."

That's giving ESPN too much credit. TMZ would have actually tried to find this girl and her family. I for one would have gotten suspicious when Te'o failed to produce photos of her and him together.

Notre Dame probably figured that since the media never questioned multiple alleged rapes and the death of a student worker that they wouldn't question the line they're putting out on this one.
The facts that they wont release the report, they refuse to get police involved, and the absolute tapdancing around the Stanford question certainly leave a lot of questions that need to be asked

I am not saying they spoke for 3 years but if he was truly catfished then the AD is lying or was lied to as well. Last night he said Te'o got a call from her on 12/26 from her number and it was her voice. That's when he notified everyone and ND started their investigation so he as at least spoke to some chick on the phone before. To what extent we don't know because Manti is apparently a pathological liar.

Synopsis of Catfish:
Just saying "catfish" doesn't clear ANYTHING up, stop saying it.
quote:
For a documentary, Ariel and Henry film Nev as he begins an online relationship with Megan. She sends him MP3s of her songs, but Nev discovers that they are all falsely taken from performances on YouTube. He later finds evidence that Megan and Abby have lied about other things. Ariel urges Nev to continue the relationship for the documentary. The siblings travel to Michigan to make an impromptu appearance at the Pierces' house and confront Megan. At Angela's house, she takes some time to answer the door and soon casually announces that she will begin chemotherapy for uterine cancer. She drives them to see Abby, who is confused when asked about her paintings.

Exactly... and the national media (cough ESPN ESPN cough) is up in arms about Catfishing, already playing the "Manti the Victim" card.
No wonder why ND feels untouchable.
ESPN is a joke for putting ND and this clown on a pedestal.
