There are two options here:
1. He was in on it from the start, thus making him a completely despicable person; or
2. He got duped, but went along with it and lied to the media/friends/family to play up his own rising star, thus making him one of the most idiotic, gullible people to have ever been admitted to an institute of higher learning and a lying dickbag.

again, why wasn't ESPN doing it's job and investigating/confirming his story instead of pushing it 24/7???
fricking Notre Dame proves itself to be fricking evil once again.

You have to be trolling.
Right?

Wojiechowski or however you spell it (the guy who interviewed Teo) said they wanted pics of the girl/to interview her family but Teo said the family wanted to remain anonymous. Woj also said they couldn't find any news stories of the girls accidents but instead of pushing for proof (death certificate), they decided to give the family the respect they deserved. I actually understand why ESPN didn't push it, it is a hairy situation (if the girl had died) and they wanted to respect the family.

Yeah, and what about our boy Pete Thamel? You know, the guy that went to Turkey to investigate Enes Kanter and Fenerbace yet couldn't take the time to verify if this dead person ever existed.

I love how the media is dancing around the Pink Elephant in the room. Any rational person would at least ask the question, is he homosexual. You have the starting middle linebacker of Notre Dame, the "big man on campus" and he has to go online to find a GF. He has women throwing themselves at him and he's faithful to some fictitious women he's never met. C'mon man? basic arythmatic here 2 + 2 = gay.

It's scary to think that without a site like Deadspin none of this would have come to light. Thank god for the internet.

This man, I mean you could be the ugliest mother fricker on the planet but if you're on the fricking football team you are gonna get laid. Especially at freaking ND

It is scary what passes for journalism these days. Seems like most of the big "stories" breaking these days with some actual investigative journalism are being done by smaller internet based news agencies.

well espn is too worried about what lebron tweeted about the orange bowl. its clear their focus isnt on investigation at all. which is fine i suppose, im just thankful as well there are sites like deadspin.

ESPN is in bed with too many people to investigate things like this.
That's what it all boils down to.

I can't be the only one thinking the ND AD was full of shite saying the Te'os were going to announce this next week, right?

If you have done nothing wrong, you want to lead the story and tell what happened.
If you have done questionable things or were part of a coverup, you deny until your last breath or it becomes wholly apparent that you've been lying the whole time.
They would have come out with this when their investigation ended in Jan. 4th, or shortly after.
Not January 20 something.

Amazing. I'm having this discussion with a co-worker now. And no. You're not alone.
