Giles Offers to Give Back his WS Ring

I have no idea what luhnow saw in this guy. The mental makeup of a piece of toast. Maybe he should give back some of his salary too for all those blown saves at the end. In fact, the one thing I can give credit to Hinch for is not throwing that PoS on the mound in the WS. Wouldn’t need to worry about giving rings back if he had.

Today might be giving a glimpse of what Dusty is thinking for opening day lineup (of course besides Diaz over Altuve and idk if Tuve would bat 4th...and switch Yed to DH and Brantley to LF)

Springer RF
Brantley DH
Bregs 3B
Diaz 2B
Yed LF
Yuli 1B
Correa SS
Tucker RF
Maldy C

Scheduled to pitch today:
JV
Urquidy
Sneed
Whitley
Cionel Perez
Jared Hughes

***ETA: Yed was a late scratch and Wrenn is starting in LF and it’s a new lineup which I’m too lazy to post but this was what it was when Yed was starting

Sore knees. Can we just completely scrap the idea of him playing the OF this year? Nobody is made better by that ridiculous plan.

Also..

What do you guys think Maldynacho is gonna do this year? Interested what you think. I think him having a full year with us, his defense should still be good. Worried about his hitting though.

In terms of pitching, I think our bullpen should still be good even without Harris. I'm a little worried with starting pitching though. Our 1-4 should be fine, but the #5 seems like an unknown to me.

What yall think?

Hit .210 with an OBP below .300 and generally be a black hole at the bottom of the lineup. No idea why Ludlow was so obsessed with this guy.

Maldynado will be below average hitting. Average defensively. But will somehow come up clutch in 4 big games that will define his season.

Bullpen will be the same as last season.

I don't even know how you say 1-4 starters should be fine. After JV and Greinke, you have LMJ with innings limited season, and then two unknowns.

89 wins. This team can endure only so much before it cracks under pressure. Expect Correa and Springer to be sold off at the trade deadline to bring in prospects. Sad but True.

All this hate for the Astros, y'all are borderline Yankee fans. Gonna be linking me to Jomboy buzzer conspiracies pretty soon.

Not one syllable of what I typed is hate for the astros. I still wear my Astros hat and shirts everywhere. I’m not ashamed or mad.

I am, however, very aware that this bullshite media storm will take its toll on the team. The harassment from the other fans will take its toll on the team. And having opposing players feign anger will impact the team.

And if you think the pitching situation is all cherry blossoms and princess farts, I’ve got bad news for you.

And we haven’t even discussed the fact that a really good A’s team got better. And the Angels will be tremendously better. The AL West will not be a cake walk this season.

Meh, baseball players are always looking for a chip to have on their shoulders and carry around. I'm sure it will get old for these guys quickly but it will not effect on-field performances for an extended period of time.

The pitching is fine. You have two veteran TOR arms, a guy coming off TJ who is a competitor with plus stuff, a potential innings limit could play a factor later in the season for LMJ but ideally the division is in hand before that time. Urquidy who flashed on the biggest of all stages and has a full spring with the big club. Oh and Strom is still in that dugout who has been known to make chicken salad out of chicken shite. Outside of the Yankees everyone in the AL has pitching question marks.

This team is still loaded 1-7 in the lineup, has an interesting mix of bullpen options to get outs and has very veteran leadership in clubhouse and at the manager position.

Yea the A's got better but they have a lineup that doesn't strike fear, and they are depending on lots of young arms and bitch arse Fiers in their rotation.

Angels will have to win high scoring games all season they cannot pitch worth a lick. Rotation is thin and bullpen is terrible.

Did the As really get that much better?

They got some guys healthy, but they’re only signing was Jake Diekman

They’re pitching situation isn’t much different than ours (counting on unproven pitchers) and our lineup is much better

The Astros have 8 serviceable bats, think of Maldy as the pitcher

Whitley is a turd, I'm glad to finally see it come to fruition. He should have been carted off with Tucker two years ago for a big leaguer on a friendly contract *cough* Yelich *cough* or Realmuto. They fricking blew it and they know it.

A's will be good again but they're not better than us. I think we're at least 5-6 games better than them.

Angels will be a solid hitting team but no pitching, starting rotation and bullpen, makes them a .500 team, maybe very slightly above.

Texas could surprise people and they got talent, but not enough to be any better than .500 too.

Seattle is Seattle. They have a big rebuild on the way.

I could see us having a little trouble with the division for a bit, but I'm not sweating on the Astros. They'll win the division.

Only thing worrying me is a healthy Yankees team if we play them in October. Otherwise, I think we're fine.

Yea you are right, I went back and looked at their 40-man after posting this and no they didn’t get better in the terms of additions.

They get Manaea back for a full season which gives them a TOR guy, but they are going to need Puk and Luzardo, tons of upside but little experience, to pitch well above a rookie level to be seen as a threat.

I really really like what Texas did with their rotation. They’ve got a full staff who can go out there and eat 6-7 innings every time out. I don’t think they’ve added to the bullpen and don’t think they will score but they could be in it for a while this season
