I wonder what this offseason would have looked like if the front office were under normal circumstances. At least this roster is plenty good enough to get us to the deadline as a contender and we can add there.

The real problem is, we’re short on prospect capital, and it’s only going to get worse with the draft picks being taken away.

Obviously it would be awesome if we have some guys break out this year ala Josh Rojas

Very true, but it’s good that we are supposedly willing to take on salary at least

Jeremy Pena is the only position prospect anywhere near ready in the next 2 years.

I like what I’ve read on Austin Pruitt definitely fits the mold of the luhnow/strom breakout find. High spin rate etc.

Really need Whitley or Martes to realize their potential this year because JV and Greinke ain’t gettin any younger.

When it comes to the deadline we shouldn’t need bats, and relievers are cheap. What we won’t be able to afford is a top 3 starter.

I guess Crane was right about no spending limit..

Astros sign Jared Hughes to a minor league deal. Wasn’t very good last year but he’s had a nice career.

I'm waiting for a thread titled "Should Every Player on the 2017 Astros Roster Be Tortured to Death?" But they won't, they just continue to do it incrementally so they can whine, then tell us we're melting when we say we don't care.

Y'all make your prediction for what the targeted hit piece will be about.

The Astros are basically the sports franchise equivalent of Donald Trump. The Media are living off of hate clicks, every Astros social media post brings out the REEE in the comment section.

I'm expecting Jim Crane will be the target. He must be cancelled for that press conference spectacle he put on. As we speak I'm certain a reporter is tracking down the parties of that discrimination suit against Crane's company.

If you read comments on a bunch of these tweets there’s always several demanding Crane be forced to sell the team

LOL

And I don’t even like Crane that much

I told everyone weeks ago they should all keep mouths shut. Don't say a peep about anything. Give them the bellicheck treatment. They will write the shite anyway, what the Astros leading with Jim crane have done is hand them more fodder and perpetuate the narrative. Absolute idiocy.

Crane hasn't been shy with the checkbook.

And I wish he had handled the Reid Ryan situation better, but when you're the owner and you want to give your son a job, you get to do whatever you want.

I wish Luhnow somehow could have survived this, actually. But losing Hinch is a big enough win that I'd take whatever comes with it.

Shunning the Ryans kind of stings to me and is a black eye, not gonna lie. Never know what goes on behind the scenes tho. I just hope that’s a fence that can be mended one day.

Crane has definitely spent and I give him credit for that

I came to appreciate Luhnow, but knowing how the old school good ole boy network despised him, he never had a chance to survive this.

All of the analytics he introduced, allowing the pitchers and hitters to break down their tendencies for certain pitches in certain counts is a big part of why they are winning baseball games.

This is way off topic, but did anybody use Fubo TV last year? Liked it? Thinking about biting the bullet and getting it since MLB.tv is still useless where I live.

I did. It’s great. Only thing it doesn’t have is ESPN but not hard to find other streams for that stuff if you’re creative
