Phenomenal hire...

James Click is a 42-year-old Yale graduate who wrote for Baseball Prospectus before joining the Rays front office in 2006. He ascended from coordinator of baseball operations to, most recently, VP of baseball operations.

Best choice of the options we heard. He should bring a little bit of both Hunsicker and Luhnow-like front office management.

We might be getting another Ludlow without the arrogant alienation of the rest of baseball.

Ivy baw already hanging out by Torchy's.

I keep telling y'all that Crane is smart and he will hire smart people. The best-run organizations are those that prioritize intelligence above all else. It's not surprising that Crane went with the Yale educated analytics guy over former scouts and mediocre guys with lots of experience.

Winning the WS this year would be better than 2017 IMO.

Seems like y’all are approving of the hire. I hadn’t followed the search at all.

I hadn’t heard his name before tonight, but that is an impressive resume.

But what will the city do when Crane Jr. and Fertitta Jr. take over the sports franchises?

Tampa seems to run a good operation down there. They're obviously well thought of throughout the league with Friedman to the Dodgers, Bloom to the Red Sox and now Click to the Astros. They seem to have been a pretty forward thinking organization with results that regularly exceed the sum of their parts. I'm fine with poaching from Tampa.

Plus, his wife's name is Ace. My man went out and acquired an Ace.

I do find it weird hiring the manager before the GM, but Crane hit a home run here. Great hire IMO.

And it's obvious the Dusty Baker move is for PR.

Yeah, I’d expect dusty to retire after this season, and Click gets his guy
