As for an overhaul -- expect an Astros fire sale over the next 12 months. Crane is pissed that none of the players spoke up. They all knew, and they all are subject to be traded.
This would be fricking suicide, and if crane wants that, I’d rather him sell the fricking team.

Sounds to me that Luhnow was a fricking villain. Sort of makes sense now that the Ryan’s pretty much bailed last year as well.
I assume if you weren’t in Luhnow’s clique, good luck to you.
Just the way it comes off to me.

Yeah, I read the entire document yesterday. I think if they'd stopped after the 9/17 memo, then there would be no penalties... or at maximum, a similar penalty that the NYY and BSR organizations received.
I think it is clear, the usage of the replay camera and trash can messaging came from Beltran. Thinking back to all of those post-season interviews, Springer, McCann, Correa -- all of those guys repeatedly gave Beltran all of the credit for being able to identify "when a pitcher was tipping his pitches" -- I think that was a nice way of saying, "Beltran is the guy stealing all the signs for us.".
I think Cora was Beltran's gopher boy, doing his bidding and keeping Hinch from snitching. Feel bad for Hinch, I think he truly wanted to stop it, but was in a no-win situation.
The idea that Luhnow didn't know what was happening is total bullshite, in my opinion.
My biggest disappointment, is pretty much EVERY player had to know what was going on. Which means they either participated, or just ignored it.
Hell, Julia Morales *HAD* to have known what was going on. (not that it matters, just rambling).

quote:fwiw, this makes sense if you have been able to read between the lines these last few years. luhnow was probably the most disliked executive in all of sports. i mean he will probably get another job cause hes terrific, but idk about it being a slam dunk like hunch just because people despise him in the sport
Sounds to me that Luhnow was a fricking villain.

I've gone from shocked to numb on this over the last few days. Still processing, who knows what's ahead.

The penalties were pretty much in line with what I thought, maybe a little stiffer on the suspensions but easier on the draft picks/no international money.
I am still stunned Luhnow and Hinch got fired

His name was Bran Tubman.

Didn't JL have a bad reputation when it came to dealing with other teams?
Firing of scouts, Ryan's leaving. shite was really rolling downhill and we as fans couldn't have imagined all this
I'm honestly in dgaf mode. They didn't strip it. Banner hangs forever. We are the enemy and I'm going to accept the role
LSU wins the Natty and Hinch is fired on the same day. It's going down personally as the best sports day of my life.

I think he was definitely seen as ruthless, well above what’s the norm. I always saw this as a positive

Why? That beta sat around and per his admission never outright told the players to stop. He could bench them whatever until they stopped. Had the ball boy sit a the feed and unplug it but no he did nothing.
If he truly felt it was wrong then do something.

Here's what is really going to piss me off... the current roster should win 92-100 games this season.
I can see them having an injury taking out a key player. Combine that with the constant distractions of the "cheating scandal" and this team struggles to win 88 games.
Then everyone will say, "see, without the cheating, they suck."
As long as the Dodgers lose in the WS this year, I'll be able to cope.

This is the kicker. We’re rudderless now, it feels like.

It feels like this is all karma for the injustice that occurred with taubs. From the World Series on-ball don’t lie.

Ryan's leaving.
Seemed like a Crane decision given his son would assume similar duties to Reid Ryan.
