34 year old coming off the worst season of his career who's still owed 3/73? Sign me up.

Fits my opinion of Bregman in 3 years

This thread is as informative with good debate as ever. The sarcasm and inside jokes anger some. It's sadder than the current Astros outfield situation.

I know most of it is sarcasm and people playing a character, but characters are supposed to die. Ryno tends to think his character is still funny after 10 years and it’s brutal. It’s like an open mic guy on stage dying for that long.

And I can’t deal with the catastrophe syndrome posters either.

Not reading these threads and the Rant is good for my blood pressure. We’re all getting old and it’s something we all have to pay attention to

I mean if we are going by only championships then no, several players aren't worth their contract. If we are going on production then they've been worth it. I mean by that argument Bill Dickie is one of the best players ever because he won 8 titles. I don't see anyone slighting Biggio, Bagwell, Etc for their lack of titles they are still considered the best Astros.

Dude

Biggio and Bagwell couldn’t hold Altuve’s left testicle if they both tried together once the first pitch was thrown in a playoff game

And of course that’s not the only consideration when valuing a fair contract.

But we’re discussing long term deals with high AAV

I'd take Biggio and Bagwell over Altube many days of the week. At the end of the day they were better players however Altube played on the better teams.

Seriously? Biggio and Bagwell are all time greats, Altuve is as well but he isn't near them. Hell he isn't withing 10 WAR of Biggio and even further from Bagwell

Biggio and Bags were my idols growing up. My dogs name is Bidge

Altuve is the greatest athlete in Houston sports history

He will be 35 next season and still 10+ WAR behind Biggio he needs at least 3 more seasons at 3.5 WAR to surpass him and Bagwell iz almost 20 WAR ahead of him. He has no shot of passing him.

I mean it’s going to be pretty close. His game isn’t going to age any worse than Biggio’s did.

So if he even gets close to that and you take into account his career .841 OPS with 27 bolts in 105 postseason games yea I’m pretty confident that Jose Altuve will be the best Astro of all time

Altuve might hold every offensive MLB playoff record when his career is over

Biggio and Bagwell could be arrested for going AWOL when a playoff game broke out

Nothing to do with team. Everything to do with what they did when it mattered most, by themselves, with a bat in their hands, facing a playoff pitcher

On Arenado, he's owed 3/74 but the Rockies are paying 5M the next 2 years so you're starting at 3/64 before you get the Cardinals to pay any of it

2025: 32M -5M =27M
2026: 27M -5M =22M
2027: 15M

Still don't think I'm on board with it. What's an acceptable amount we need the Cards to take of that 64 million they owe and what does that cost us in prospects we don't have?

I think there does exist a number that makes sense, esp if they would be interested in Pressly
