Well, it's done.

JV to the Mets! 2 years $86 million. Scherzer and Verlander, together again!

Damn…can’t believe someone is giving him that…will be fun to watch the NL east next year, and Astros vs Mets World Series would be awesome

He wanted that for 3 years... guess he had to settle for 2.

ETA: Looks like there is a vesting option for a 3rd.

$43M is too much for a regular season ace that doesn’t help much in the post season

I'm ok with this. Just glad he didn't sign with Yankees or Dodgers. That would have been a bitter pill. Thanks for everything and good luck

Better the Mets than the dodgers.
Gotta wonder if JV in New York will actually hurt him because of the climate.

Abreu performed better in warmer weather .

Makes you wonder if a 40 year old with recent TJ surgery is going to be better playing in a non climate controlled stadium, while also being on a 5 man rotation and not 6.

That should leave us with some money left to shore up the lineup. Benintendi please. Another left handed bat and capable outfielder should work.

Verlander at 2/$86mm is tremendously better value than De Grom at 5/$186mm.

Over/Under of how many more starts does JV give the Mets in 2 seasons than De Grom gives the Rangers in 5?

I put the O/U at 8.5.

Let's go Jerry Crain... you're on the clock: Benitendi and Contreras.

Make it happen.

ETA: now that he's officially a Met, I might as well go check out Kate's fappening shots and not feel guilty about it.
