You have to manage the MLB roster with your head, not your heart. Relying on past their prime 35-40 year old players is not the way.

Brantley has a long track record of bad health. And he's older. Hard pass.

JV will demand way more than he's gonna be worth at 40 plus. It has to be a team friendly deal.

Yuli, tough one. My favorite astro player of this run. I don't think you can go in counting on him to produce. Power was way down this year and he's not gonna get better with age. I think 1b is a position we're serious upgrade can be made offensively.

I let Diaz and Montero walk. Hensley can do everything Diaz did and not made of glass.

Here's my favorite single point of the World Series. Bigger than the Co-No. Bigger than the Yordan Blast. When this happened, I am 100% I heard a collective scream from tzimme, Winston, and 1 million Phillies fans sitting in front of their TVs.

It was the moment that Kyle Schwarber said, "I don't want to be here anymore."

Put him in the pen and I think they can get more value out of him.

In the wee hours of Sunday morning as the celebration raged myself and a friend of mine discussed this. I was so tense at the time I couldn’t process how inexplicably retarded it was

For the out of town people, it is being shown on KHOU + on Roku. I have the pre-parade streaming right now

100% agree. Well, 99%. I'd be willing to pay market rate to keep JV. Offer him a 3 year deal, 2 full, with 1 mutual option which only kicks in with certain number of innings pitched.

First base is a huge opportunity for this team to get better. Spend money there and on Tucker. Lock him up just like the other core guys.

Tucker needs a long term deal. Obtaining anyone through trade or FA should be secondary to locking him down.

Abreu was a post season beast

10 games 11.1IP 4H 0 runs 4 walks 19 strikeouts. That's 15 K/9

Tucker and Framber are the two I’d love to see extended right now. Javier as well but I’m guessing he will want a full rotation year before having that discussion and who can blame him

I see. So you want next year to also be "un-winnable" as well...

Same.

I'd go 1 (or 1 plus a mutual option) for Brantley. If he wants 4 or 5 he needs to look elsewhere.

I'm sure he *wants* 4 or 5. But I am also sure Brantley knows where things stand. Someone, Detroit or Toronto might offer Brantley 3+1 years. But I doubt it. And I'm sure his agent knows it.

Brantley is made of glass guys. Love the guy, he's the LMJ of position players. You cannot bank on guys like that at his age.

I am actually seeing this for the first time. I was at LSU game watching Astros on my phone, and the football game was getting to nut-crunching time, so I followed the 8th on ESPN game tracker. I didn't see how the outs were made--I just knew that it was a 1-2-3 inning.

But that is amazing! WTF was he doing? He might as well have brought a white flag with him to the plate.

Yeah, nice. But that's not how the Astros usually do things. There's some unknown from the DR or Cuba that was deep in someone's farm system that will come up and magically be a great 1st baseman next year.

I went in 17. Never again. I mean if you don't have kids with you and you can take the entire day off go for it but once you are down there you are trapped and can't get out for many many hours... No bathrooms

It’s very cool to see but Ryno is right, you are somewhat stuck there for a while. I’d imagine it would be miserable with kids. If you are younger and live in town/want to hang out at bars around after it’s fun

I worked downtown on the route in 17, which was awesome. We could go down to the street but use the facilities in our building and had a great view from our offices 20 floors or so up. Was great for my coworkers who had families come in town

Alright, that sounds kind of miserable being trapped and the bathroom situation lol. They tweeted a map with portapotty locations but I'm sure those will be awful. I'm in the heights and would Uber, if I did go.

I would love to go, but it's way too much trouble. My daughter in law (no pics) went last time, but her friend worked in a building right by the parking garage with the cap drop. They watched from that garage, but had access to her building's facilities. They had a great time. I also know someone who got there at about 5 AM and staked out a spot near a coffee shop. She was front row, but didn't have kids with her.

I don’t think Verlander has a desire to play anywhere else if we are going to give him what he’s worth which I expect Crane to make sure of. 2 years for 80 mil or so seems about right. Whether that’s a good idea or not is a separate discussion but when Crane wants to intervene in the front office part he typically gets what he wants.

I completely agree. Verlander seems to have no desire at all to be on a Yankee or Dodger type team. I think he very much likes the Astros culture and I can see why. It seems to be a very family friendly culture and they seem to truly be all about the team rather than the individual. Plus, like Kate said...who wants to be on a team where your own fans Boo you? Nobody!

100%! I have seen the "put Yed at 1st" post what seems like a million times. If that were every a real consideration, we would have seen it at some point in time. This just is not happening. It's not who he is and it's not just "oh, we will just change their position". Not that easy.
