Sig Mejdal, the Baltimore Orioles assistant GM who worked six years for the Astros, will also be high on Crane’s list of potential candidates, with his name arising in mid-summer among Astros’ officials. There are others in the mix who were interviewed before Click, and even while he was on the job.

The truth is that Crane already had a potential succession plan in place for at least a year. Crane privately interviewed several candidates to replace Click last winter in which they would work under Click for one year, and then likely assume the GM duties.

What I found from before Click was hired was former Giants GM Bobby Evans, MLB Senior VP of Minor League operations Peter Woodfork and Royals VP of Scouting Gene Watson

Well this would explain why FODB didn’t give two shits about what Click did or thought.

So I wonder, did these interviewees just not pan out for the 2022 season or were they going to come in in 2023 and work under Click if he had stayed another year?

Y’all getting any WS memorabilia? I’m looking for something for the wall, but I surely don’t want to break the bank. This looks nice but also kinda generic. Also, they don’t give the weight of the paper it’s printed on. Link some ideas, if you have them.

GM drama aside, I still can’t get over how the Astros just dragged their nuts all over MLB and the sports media.

Yeah I have no issues with Crane whatsoever, especially when it comes to spending money.

We can't resign everybody. Lose Cole, Springer, Correa, but resign/extend Verlander, Altuve, Bregman, Yordan.

He's 10th in payroll which isn't bad so I have faith he's gonna spend a bit this off season as well, like resign Verlander again.

Hopefully he's got a good GM in mind if he didn't want to keep Click.

I brought back two of the plastic World Series stadium cups for soft drinks from game 1. Also picked up a couple of WS coozies from the team store. Other than a hat - probably not anything else.

Really sucks that tickets are electronic now, would love to have my ticket stubs from Game 1.

His injury history is scary. He says either Astros or Rangers so I’ll bet he ends up with the Rangers.
