Brantley is a higher BA half powered Bregman from the left side.

Back to back professional ABs from the left then right side.

Brantley isn't going anywhere for 17 M next year. That's right, only 4 M more than Reddick

He's a much more productive Beltran

With his advice to Yuli, Beltran might be on his way to another Astros low-key MVP award.

Zero chance of that happening

Definitely a smallish chance. But also much greater than Zero. It's not just fans rumbling about Correa's low-standing with the front office. There is legitimate smoke there.

EDIT: Off topic, with the enormous spike in HRs across MLB this year... what are your predictions for average/ below-average players obtaining over-inflated contracts based on this year's over-inflated HR results?

I think Yuli has really benefitted from the HR-happy balls this year. It seems many of his HRs were not deep HRs. Without them, most of his HRs are warning track outs. At least that's what it seems to me. I think there are many other players that fall into that category.

Good question. I assume the analytics available will keep all but the super dumb and archaic front offices from not adjusting their figures for players.

BTW, Mattress Mack is having a hard time laying off Astros World Series bets in Las Vegas because the sportsbooks are being assholes about the risk. He has middlemen who are known in Vegas working for him to make sure he can cover his arse with bets in the US rather than have to go overseas. No place has taken more than 200K on a bet from him so far.

Basically, Mack is just trying to get the consensus fair odds (+250). It seems the new sportsbooks in New Jersey are far more welcoming but FanDuel were turds by offering to take up to $10 million on it but at far worse odds.

You would think that with all the advanced stats comparing players to their peers and league averages then GMs are still going to be paying based on value over replacement.

Which means Cole is going to get paid.

So there seems to be some momentum to get Bregman the MVP that he deserves.

Quote from the athletic in na article about trout.

quote:

Houston’s Alex Bregman is having a sensational season — he hit his 40th homer on Tuesday, he leads the league in walks now, he is a fabulous third baseman. And because he’s had a hot September for what very well might be the best team in baseball while Trout has been getting healthy for next year, I suspect he’ll pass Trout on the MVP ladder.

Bob Nightengale is Knighting for Bregman in the USA Today

A quote from Bregman in that article

quote:

“. If we win the World Series this year, I think we have a chance to be one of the best teams of all time. That’s what I want. When I wake up in the morning, that’s all I ever think about is winning. I not only want to win the World Series again, I want to win it more times than anyone who has ever won it before.

That quote is just so damn beautiful. Lifetime contract. When he cant run anymore then he moves on to manager.

Carlos Correa said his back is still tight, but if this were the playoffs, he’d be playing. He said he will not play tomorrow in Anaheim, either, after tonight’s flight. Correa said yesterday he was tight due to the flight to Seattle.

Didn't buy the bullshite last night. AJs not worried, he'll be in there tomorrow.
doesn't play the next 2 games.

They always say its nothing major and then he misses substantial time. I'm nearly on board with wrapping him in bubble wrap and shipping his delicate arse somewhere else.

Correa is nothing more than a distraction at this point. Forget the name.

Plus it’s not like we can bring in a masseuse to work on his back issues.

Cholly Morton doing his part to help the Astros win home field. The Rays bullpen will need to also help out.

The King of Rest Days isn't even covering for NoShowrrea anymore.

quote:

"Yesterday, when he told me he couldn't play, he said he thought it would be a one-day thing and he could play today," manager A.J. Hinch said. "Obviously it's concerning and frustrating in the same breath. I'm not sure what to think."

Hinch also said Yuli, Springer and Altuve are all sitting out tomorrow due to a late arrival to LA at 3pm. Bregman will DH and Yordan will be in LF. That’s a weak lineup for a Miley start. That has L written all over it

Miley is pitching so it was already an L. May as well forfeit and give everybody a day off.
