What is your impression of Greinke since he was traded to Astros? For me he’s been meh.

Yea hopefully shouldn't need it. Win 3/5 of our remaining games and nothing else matters

He's been overshadowed by Verlander and Cole... and his numbers are predictably a notch higher than in the NL.

That said, his 3.48 ERA with the Astros would be the 6th best among qualified AL SPs, and his 1.178 WHIP would also be 6th best. His walk rate is low, his HR rate is low, his K rate is decent.

So, that's pretty damn good, it's just not Verlander and Cole good.

Yea he is a very good pitcher, and for that to be our #3 going into the playoffs I feel good about it. You wouldn't take anyone elses #3 over him likely

He would be #1 or #2 on any other AL team.

Sup DATers. How about that Gerrit Cole eh? IDK man he looks pretty good. Might want to consider resigning that guy, to whatever dollar amount he wants.

Yes.

And then no.

I mean, what if he wants something like 10 years, $300M. That would sign him until his age 39 season. Current Gerit Cole is worth more than $30M... but is it enough more to outweigh late 30s Gerit Cole? Is he going to be the next Verlander that can pitch at a high level that long?

At what point do the Astros say yes? 8 years at $240M? 7 @ $210M?

I'd love to see Cole as an Astro for the rest of his career. I'd take signing him over extending Correa, that's for sure.

What about Springer? Because Signing Cole this off-season is how you get a Springer-less Astros.

I think Correa is gone this off-season. He has more issues going on than "tightness".

I'd hate to see Springer go. I love everything about how he plays the game. If he doesn't miss 40 games this season, he is an MVP favorite.

I don't think that's necessarily true. If the Astros can move Brantley and, possibly, Reddick in the offseason, I think that there's a real possibility of keeping Cole and Springer.

Do you want down votes? Because that’s how you get downvotes. I learned that yesterday

Springer, Brantley, and Reddick are all FAs going into the 2021 offseason. I don't see how moving Brantley and Reddick would have anything to do with signing Springer to an extension. 99.9% chance Reddick signs elsewhere, and probably pretty decent that Brantley does as well, so those contracts will be off the books when Springer's next contract starts. Unless he signs an extension this off-season, but then it probably won't be much more than what his arbitration salary would be.

Correa isn't an UFA until 2022... can't see them moving him this off-season. Maybe during the next offseason or even during the 2021 season, but not now. It would be a weird deal though, assuming that the Astros are in the race in 2021... maybe a mutually beneficial deal to an NL team? Only contenders would be wanting to bite, and they aren't going to want to give up contributing players.

In some ways, I think Brantley has been the best leader for Springer this season, and Springer has even agreed to that.

He's a much more productive Beltran
