It seems that the approach was that he is playing for the next 5 years and didn't really expect a WS by now, so why sell for it. I get the strategy, but a Gray for 2 years seemed like a no brainer to me anyway.

We will not win the AL with our current SP imo

Altuve and Springer are playing like MVPs. Correa as well. Reddick is having what could be the best season of his career. McCann has gotten it together for one more go round. Act now.

Keuchel for sure. Need to see a few more starts post DL before I could give a confidence level.

Not happening. They aren't taking on his contract.

Most of our offense is having what could be career years. No guarantee we play at this level again.

Really disappointing that we have a surplus of prospects that play the same position and we couldnt parlay that into a real deal.

They don't have to take on the entire contract. He will pass through waivers. Then the Astros can trade for him. Detroit will take on some of the money if Luhnow sends back the right prospects.

Even though anybody with half a brain expected us to at least start competing this year? Sure you could give that excuse in 2015, but not this year. That's bullshite

Yep and it's going to suck when we blow through the reg season and get shut down by a top staff in a 7 game series.

How would trading for additional pitchers help that exactly?

Damn... after verlander and Darvish both recent tweets, I'd love to see both of them get traded at the last minute.

Because we won't have the pitching to shut down the opposing teams offense? Not complicated.
