There’s no meetings on the mound anymore w/o Correa
I think he used to just be out there to translate with Castro/Stubbs/McCann etc but he does seem to be out there a lot more with Maldonado as well this season

The bullpen still isn’t great
Dump the 6 man rotation and move Garcia back into the pen in a role similar to what LMJ did. Javier appears to be a mercurial head case, so moving Garcia back could help. Don't trust Abreu, Bielak, or Raley. Too much melt down history.

I mean I get the idea of moving Garcia to the pen to conserve innings, but he’s been one of more effective starters all year
What they need to do is either commit to Javier being a swing starter/long relief guy or get him accustomed to pitching multiple days in a row. Feels like he’s in an awkward in between role right now

Or do an old minor league like Piggy back with Garcia & Javier to conserve innings

I don’t think that Odorizzi should have a pass to stay in the rotation. If you’re going to cut it down, make him the long man. He’s no good after four or five innings, anyway. That frees you up to condition Javier to be a one inning, more appearances guy and see if he can do it. Appearances like yesterday’s make me question if he can do it.

If there are no more trades and assuming everyone is healthy (two big assumptions) this is what your playoff roster probably looks like
Maldy
Castro
Yuli
Altuve
Correa
Bregman
Diaz
Brantley
Straw
Tucker
Yordan
Chas
Lance
Greinke
Framber
Urquidy
Garcia
Odorizzi
Javier
Pressly
Graveman
Y. Garcia
Stanek
Taylor
Two of Abreu/Montero/one of the quad A grab bag guys we have
Looking at this I think another reliever is a must (would love a good lefty to push Taylor down or off the roster). If another injury happens or Urquidy can’t come back you’re potentially putting two of the shite group on a playoff roster.
Position player wise I like the idea of getting another utility guy in case Diaz or Bregman gets hurt again, but unless it’s someone with options I’m not sure where he goes for the few weeks between when Bregman should be back and rosters expand. You could send Chas or another pitcher down I guess.

That guy is such a try hard. He's not funny. Nor witty. He's like Ryno back in the 2012-2015 seasons - back before he matured and mellowed.

Agreed - I’m just thinking in the context of trying to conserve some of Garcia’s innings, I don’t recall much talk of that from management, but seems inevitable that they’ll want him available to be a starter in the playoffs
Until Urquity comes back, you’re gonna stuck with Odorizzi getting a start every 5 days

God the way the national guys are still going on about the Gallo trade, you would think the Yankees have acquired Babe Ruth

This is such an odd trade to me. Sure, Gallo has power and walks a ton. Plays good defense.
But, isn't there some rule or NYC law or something that says that any new star on the Yankees must immediately go on the IL due to an oblique, quad, or anus injury?
How many games is Gallo going to have a positive impact in that Yankees lineup? Not many.

All they got was a lesser version of Aaron Judge. The Yankees stayed true to their real selves. Let's get another guy who either strikes out or homers. Yeah, that's what they really need!
