So glad Espada is our manager.
This is who I wanted since Jan 2020.

It is truly, a relief and Espada seems to be happy to be chosen. It's been coming for a few years now.

I know it’s not always the best practice to just hire from within out of a sense of “loyalty”, but watching the presser I was so excited for Espada. All of his answers were great and I think he’s going to do an awesome job and has a much better feel of marrying the analytical data with the game flow than the previous manager.

Is this what we were waiting to thank him for?

Probably didn’t mean anything but I got a chuckle out of Espada saying he was looking forward to working with Dana on getting the best players on the field

I LOVE the Espada hire. That of course hasn't changed. Seemed like he waited his turn till Dusty retired ad he would take it after. His patience has paid off. Happy for him and think he will do well.

We added Kennedy Corona to the 40 man for Rule 5 draft protection. The other 7 players on the list were left unprotected and are eligible for the Rule 5

Welp baws the mystery has finally been solved. We all know that Kratz took a dive on opening day as the players were being announced a few years ago. But now we know what he took home. $2k. A thousand a piece from Scott Feldman and Luke Gregerson.

And yet, one MLB insider has floated a wild trade that would send an Astros star to the Pinstripes.
Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker is entering his second arbitration year, meaning that he'll hit free agency after the 2025 season. Subsequently, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported that he'd heard the possibility that Houston could look to shake things up instead of just riding it out with the remainder of Tucker and Alex Bregman's contracts, which could lead to the Astros possibly exploring a trade for the right price.
Given how strongly the Yankees have been connected to Cody Bellinger in free agency this offseason, it's clear that New York is eyeing a star-caliber upgrade in the outfield, particularly focusing on another power lefty bat. Tucker would certainly qualify.
Though he bottomed-out unfortunately in the playoffs, Tucker was phenomenal in the regular season, posting an .886 OPS with 29 home runs, 37 doubles, five triples and a career-high 112 RBI. He's also hit 89 home runs over the past three seasons.
The big question, of course, is if the Astros would actually part ways with Tucker. Having said that, given the Yankees rich prospect pool, if any team were to get Houston to budge, it might be the Bronx Bombers.

I can tell you, those rumors are getting generated from Tucker’s camp. They know he immediately jumps to a true MVP favorite playing in NY. It will maximize his future contract and get him out of Houston.
Different topic: Toro to the A’s. He will be an All Star level player every time he plays against the Astros.

If my suspicions have any validity to them, Tucker in NY would never work, and he wouldn't want any part of it.
But who knows? I would think the Rays could be a good fit.

I always figured Tucker was a short timer, but I thought Bregman had a chance to be a lifer. From reading online reports, seems highly unlikely. Can't say I blame Brown/Crane if he really wants 10yr/$300MM. Simeon got 7yr/$175MM. That's his closest comp in age and numbers.

I would trade them all this offseason.

Bregman's next contract is a bad long term investment.

Me too.
I would rather see Bregman retire as an Astros. But that isn’t going to happen, so trade him and Tucker now.
