So my 3 yr old niece loves Bregman and he was at the league city academy today. My brother and sister in law took her to see him, waited in line for a few hrs and when she finally got to see him she blew up in excitement. He went for a high five but she told him knuckles. IT was awesome and he made her day. She is still buzzing. Bregbaw hell of a draft pick ludlow

Should that be the case, I will too, but he is definitely an emergency C only going forward.

Thx for sharing. That is cool.
It was evident before the season started that the Astros were marketing Bregs big time. He has the work ethic and confidence necessary to avoid letting all this go to his head.
I chuckle when I think about Bregman's slow start and my concern that holding onto him could have cost us the arm we needed to win a WS. We end up with our cake and eating it too.
Bregs HRs off Sale were icing on that cake.

I just don't see him staying if they sign another catcher. They'll trade him to help boost the farm and save the money.

How much is he owed for how long?
I would think they would like to move him prior to signing another C, just to keep leverage.

Looks like Gattis has no deal in place, but was paid 5.2 last year. At that price, kinda hard to say what might happen.

This is the last year of control on him, so I would think they'll move quickly to deal him.

Guess who else was just confirmed to attend......... Jonathon Lucroy.
Hmmmmmmm........
Can someone explain the logic behind signing Lucroy?

Defensive backup to McCann who has potential to be more than a backup which is good because McCann is getting old, allows us to move on from Gattis which theoretically opens the door for a LHH bat to replace him in the lineup, evening out the lineup a bit.
That’s my guess on the logic, whether it’s the right move to make is a different debate

Today in 2011, the Astros are sold to new owner Jim Crane. The deal was dependent on the new owner's acceptance of the franchise being switched from the NL Central to the AL West in 2013, a move that reportedly lowered the sale price from $680 million to $615 million.
6 years ago today, the process started.
We are now World Champs
I love when a plan comes together

The outcome was never in doubt

I'm thinking Jonathan Lucroy to Astros is all but a done deal.

Bill James on Altuve/Judge debate in-depth:

We come, then, to the present moment, at which some of my friends and colleagues wish to argue that Aaron Judge is basically even with Jose Altuve, and might reasonably have been the Most Valuable Player. It’s nonsense. Aaron Judge was nowhere near as valuable as Jose Altuve. Why? Because he didn’t do nearly as much to win games for his team as Altuve did. It is NOT close.

That was an interesting read.
It kind of highlights why Luhnow transformed an Astros lineup full of Aaron Judge type players (not as good as judge, but high-K high-HR types) to what the team was this past season.
WAR and WRC+ only takes you so far.

Why are we trying to move on from Evan gattis?

I’m not sure we are, but if you wanted to improve the defense of our catching unit and add a LH bat to the lineup, that’s one way you could do it.
