He didn’t ground out to the left side, which is interesting and different.

Some might say, intriguing

I think he makes the catch, but Betts arm is clearly over the wall, which seems to be the actual issue.

It is 100% the issue. Just like a foul ball reaching into the stands the fans dont have to scatter

This is how I feel. If there’s no fans there I absolutely think he catches it, but I don’t understand how you can say on that replay they reached in

The guy wearing the blue t shirt had both his hands even if not over the wall. Watched it 10 time and I see the same the thing.

All 3 guys actually look like they had their hands reaching over the wall.

Again, just not enough evidence to overturn the call

Question for all of the butthurt Stros fans right now:

If that was JD Martinez homerun ball that was called out because a fan had interfered with Reddick robbing it, would you all still argue that it was the wrong call?

Just curious

Also notice how far Betts body goes after the contact before his body hits the wall.

Mookie is very clearly reaching into the stands.

If you pause it at 2 seconds, fans are reaching out possibly over the wall and Betts body is still a couple of feet from the wall. It's close. That isn't definitive at all.

I agree 100%

Mookie is not up against the wall. There is no way yall are telling me those fans hads arent over the wall Unless the gray shirt guy is reaching BACKWARDS then there is no way the guy who hits the glove (whos ands are beyond gray shirt, isnt over the wall.

Couple tweets from unbiased national reporters

quote:

Terrible here at Minute Maid Park. Out? Mookie never caught it. It was on fan side of the fence. Should be HR. Brutal. George Springer slams his helmet into ground at 1B. Should have been two-run HR for Jose Altuve

quote:

I'd love to hear the explanation for that. Didn't look like a fan reached over the fence. If he didn't, and the ball was over the fence when it was touched, and the contact was incidental between the fan and Mookie Betts' glove, that has to be a home run, right?

quote:

Altuve is called out on fan interference after replay. I think that is a bad call. The ball was beyond the fence and Betts closed his glove before the ball arrived. I don't think he was going to catch that. 2-run HR goes away.

Maybe I’m an a-hole but I still think the call looks 50/50

Mookie is tracking backwards but the fan is def reaching out. I can’t tell exactly where the ball is at contact. It looks damn close to me

You are never going to agree, but look at mookies body he’s, reaching back but his body is a foot from fence. Those dudes were reaching out.

In that video it is a long time from the time the fan hits the glove until his body hits the wall. I don’t thing he’s out of play there.
