PFT has confirmed that Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has indeed switched agents, from CAA to Athletes First.

Typically, a player who terminates his representation must wait five days before signing with a new firm. CAA, we’re told, waived the five-day period as to Jones.

So what does Jones want? There are two possibilities. One, he’s willing to do a deal for less than CAA was willing to accept. Two, he wants more than CAA was able to get.

As one source explained it, it’s the latter. Jones wants more than the Giants have offered. Possibly as much as $45 million per year, or more.

The Giants could respond by simply applying the franchise tag to Jones. The non-exclusive level would cost them $32.416 million, and it would allow him to try to sign with another team — if that team is willing to give up a pair of first-round picks to get him.

There are maybe 3 QBs in the league who are worth their contract

It just is what it is

Yup. I know what you are saying. It’s just crazy that mediocre QB’S are able to basically hold a team hostage for their services….

shite let Daboll get his own guy in the draft.
He is a proven QB whisperer with Allen and having a non-trash year out of Jones.

I get wanting your max value but personally I would work with my team to make bank but also leave room for my weapons.
Wonder if Burrow gives Cincy a sweetheart deal.

Not unless I was an older vet. My 1st monster payday, I'm getting the most I possibly can.

If Daniel Jones is worth 45 mil per then Daboll should call his agent and request a new contract for 100 mil a year

It’s not an either / or scenario anyway

If the owner has the liquid cash and you can evaluate/scout talent in the draft, Convert the cap to cash every year and pay whoever you want. Hurts your depth over the long term and is hard to maintain over long periods but the idea that you can’t pay QBs and top talent is silly and is as strong as ever despite yearly evidence to the contrary

Bengals may not end up paying all three (or even 2) of their WRs on long term deals, but that won’t be because they had to pay burrow. Not many, if any, teams that would keep that level of payroll commitment in the WR dept, even if their QBs were on rookie deals or extremely cheap.

Possibly

I'm guessing Jones and the Giants will end up negotiating a reasonable deal for both sides.
