"You're part of the problem." Also says to the fan, Tyler, "if you wanna apply for the job, go for it. And good luck to you" This is a lengthy, fiery answer here by Dabo

"To answer your question, I started as the lowest-paid coach in this business ... I worked my arse off. I'm not gonna let this smart-arse kid get on the phone" and tell me how to do my job. "I work for the board of trustees."

Can't imagine this guy surviving all the crazy rednecks at Bama, where he has been considered a potential heir to Saban

I want to rag on him for letting some two-bit nobody fan get to him like this, but that response was total demolition

This is all he had to say. Instead he goes on a 6 minute pissy rant because he thinks he's a football god and he won't let one of the peons question him

Well the caller called his salary into question. "Why are you making $11 million to go 4-4?" He's not making $11 million to go 4-4, he's making $11 million because he's one of three active coaches with multiple titles and had the greatest decade run in Clemson history. Despite not making the playoffs they still won 10+ games the last 2 years and won the ACC last year. This is their first truly down year in a long time and suddenly everything's erased and he doesn't deserve what he's making anymore?

The caller had some fair questions and there's legitimate criticism for how Dabo has, or more more accurately hasn't, adapted to the current climate of CFB with NIL and the transfer portal, as well as some nepotism hires and roster spots (although the hiring of Riley seemed to be a good hire on paper that just hasn't worked out so far).

It's fair to ask those questions but you overstep yourself a bit when you call his contract and job security into question as if this one tough year erases everything he accomplished for them and didn't deserve to be rewarded for it or given a chance to turn it back around. Dabo's correct here that those sort of comments reek of ungratefulness.

As far as even addressing the caller in the first place, yeah it's probably something he should let go but at the same time so many fans bitch about "coach speak" and dodging questions and the media giving softball questions, I kind of enjoy these exchanges where coaches just get real and give some honest answers to tough questions, whether you agree with him or not.

I don't blame the fans for feeling uncomfortable with the track their team is heading right now tho.

Those years of competing for titles were all with literally zero competition in the entire conference and a schedule that most years would make Michigan's from this year look difficult.

Now that there's legit Top 25 competition in the conference and Dabo is too prideful to pay players or get players thru the portal he's either gotta change his stance on the portal/NIL or get left behind.

This is a good point. We always complain about the media asking softball questions, and when a fan gets his chance to finally confront the head coach, Dabo bullies him.

I think it's a bad look on Swinney's part, even if he is right to defend his coaching record. When a coach defends his big salary, however, he shouldn't expect a lot of approving applause. Again, it's a bad look.

Damn. Look at that lengthy, detailed response. Dabo sits in front of the mirror and does daily affirmations, doesn't he?

Dabo is 100% wrong.

If the AD doesn't step in and de-escalate, this could spiral out of control, quickly.

A lot of people have claimed he’s lost his fire and has become content. I think he wanted to show he is not happy either. This is a similar event to the USC rant after losing to them 4-5 times in a row. I think he hired Venables the next season. I really think a lot of his friends and family (who fill Clemson’s staff) will be looking for new jobs this winter. It’s time for a reset.

Clemson fan here

This is so hyperbolic and flat out dumb as shite. Go look up Clemson’s SOS those 4 seasons they played in the NC.

IPTAY and othe programs pay Clemson players just fine. You literally have no idea what you’re talking about.

Hey 1/3 statements being accurate is ok I guess.

That's a lot of words for Dabo's to say he's got a little fishing hole out on Lake Jocasse that he can show Tyler

I'd imagine there are a lot of Clemson students who have no memory of a time when Clemson was bad at football.

Sadly, there are no Carolina students who can say the same.
