Craziest thing about the Bob Knight chair throwing incident

We've all seen the clip over the years, a heated Bob Knight picks up a chair and throws it across the court leading to his ejection.
I finally watched a longer clip of the game and when the incident happened the score was 11-6 and only 5 minutes was gone in the game. Have no idea how he managed to get that angry that quickly in a game that had barely even begun.

In today's America, him and IU would have multiple lawsuits from the fans that got hit with the chair

It's Bob Knight. He had a constant case of the red arse.

It's even crazier, really, that he didn't do it all the time. Knight is hilarious now looking back on it, but he had some issues to say the least

Bobby Knight had the same secret that Bruce Banner has.

In today’s game it’s rare to see a coach argue a call passionately. The throw their hands up and walk away. Coaches use to get on the officials.

They were also 14-9 and on the verge of missing the NCAA tournament at the time.

Knight was one of those people that was quick to dish it out but couldn't take it when he got any pushback.
You can see that clearly in the hunting video where he and a buddy were hunting too close to some guys house and peppered the house and maybe the guy too with birdshot. The guy got pissed, Bobby couldn't handle being called out and would up throwing his buddy under the bus saying he did it.

I remember when I first saw it years ago that my first thought was he probably had a “date” with a 19-year-old coed and just wanted to get the hell out of there. Even for Bobby Knight, that was f*cking extreme.

What a hero. A true American legend. That’s a coach you can rally behind and forever change you.

He never sounded happy.
It was always either hypertension blood boil or sounding drunk and morose.
Occasionally he'd find a middle ground and wax philosophical.
It seemed like it was a chore being him....the chair was emblematic of his lack of accountability, looking in the mirror and passing blame onto everyone else.

And 4 years later he chastised the fans for throwing debris on the court because of officiating.
Still, the donkey interview is the best Knight moment, imo.

Yep. And if I recall, they had just made a deep run in the tournament the year before, so everyone had them pegged to make another one in '85. They were in the middle of a long slump and even though it was early in the game, there had already been a rush of what Bob Knight deemed terrible calls(there were 6 fouls called in 5 minutes against his Hoosiers lol). He got another and started sawing with the ref when the ref warned him and Knight responded prompting the first tech. That tech led to the chair getting tossed.

I don't think I knew that was IU's AD that came out on the court.
Could you imagine Joe Alleva doing that to support Will Wade.

Young kids today have no clue just how good Indiana used to be.
