Video Clip
"College Football is too 'small' thinking. You need an NFL guy at big city, sunshine Universities like USC, Miami, and UCLA to matter."
"I would get on the phone with Pederson, Anthony Lynn or Matt Nagy"
"You have to go big in LA."
"The guys who always do well at USC are pro coaches."
"College Football misses USC and Miami."
"These college coaches and their agents now just use USC to get a raise at their current jobs."

Cowherd is ignorant and let’s his imagination run away from him. He doesn’t know much about sports or understand sports, he just tosses out ideas and pats himself on the back no matter how stupid they are.

Cowherd is a moron. Those guys are all hacks.
Well, Pederson maybe not because he won a ring but he looked bad without Frank Reich.

They need a name, that's it. Doesn't even have to be a coach. That's what all the assistants are for.
Being in the 2nd largest market in America, it would probably behoove USC to hire professionals/NFL people. But more importantly, household names. They can be CEO.
NIL has changed the game and USC can rake it in...exactly what they were accused of, NFL agents, celebs on the sidelines, open door policy.
Forget College buttoned down vest coaches. The doors wide open. No need for up and comers. Shite, hire Leo DiCaprio as your HC and let all the assistants do the work as he recruits from Netflix subscriptions and Billboards.
Its all about getting the athletes and if you can promise them market exposure or TV/movie deals...that's the world we live in now.
The HC at USC should just be a Hollywood figurehead promising the $. Tons of underlings across the nation can coach and it doesn't matter if you suck as a coach, you have all the athletes with Hollywood deals.
Paradigm has been shifted. CFB isn't thinking outside the box yet with NIL...they are thinking too small. USC has the greatest advantage of any CFB program. Just treat it like a Pro/Sports entertainment enterprise. Give recruits movie roles.
USC should be the easiest place to cash in on NIL. Ain't no small College town.

Although I do so what agree with this take, what player at USC since the Bush/Leinart era were household names and would garner a major Hollywood/LA industry ad campaigns and NIL $$?
The only two I can remotely think of were Sanchez (a 1-year starter) and Darnold.
And those 2 don't remotely compare to The Pete Carroll heyday of the mid-00s.
Also have to be reminded how hard it will be for a college kid to break through with all the other pro sports stars and celebrities in LA sucking up most of the attention.
I still say Oregon is in by far the best situation going forward with all of the NIL stuff. Even the likes of USC and UCLA won't be able to compete with the promise of preferred Nike deals for the Duck family members.

Has a CFB team hiring a former NFL head coach with little to no college coaching experience ever worked out besides USC with Pete Carroll? Bill Callahan failed. Dave Wannstedt failed. Chan Gailey failed. Those are just a few off the top of my head.

It’s literally the worst place to try to cash in because in a city with 2 nfl teams, 2 baseball teams, a hockey team, and a soccer team, and a high Hispanic population, no one gives a frick about what a 18 year old fresh out of high school is selling.
Outside of Vanderbilt, every SEC school is the biggest game in town.

All of those guys seem too boring for USC.

The way this guy sucks off L.A. is unbearable.

You completely forgot that L.A. is a Lakers and dodgers town first, a football town second.

I agree they need to go big. But those names aren’t big

When I think "big thinking" head coach, these are immediately the guys who come to mind. Cowherd nailed it.

Bill O'Brien will be the hot name after the season.

Of course.
I have called this since Helton was fired.
They are going to hire an NFL coach or coordinator. Watch.
And USC will never learn.
NFL and College are two different games. The main difference being how the teams prepare.
In the NFL, practices are not physical at all. There is no contact. The first teamers get most of the reps.
In college, most practices(from good coaches) have contact and are physical, at least the Monday/Tuesday practices.
NFL coaches come down to college and practice like an NFL team, and that is their downfall - they are not physical enough in games.

You can say what you want about cowherd, but the dude is good at his job. It’s because he doesn’t sound exactly the same as every other show.
A lot of the other shows seem exactly the same, his show just sounds a bit different because of the way he thinks outside the box a bit. Joy Taylor is pretty hot too
