You can say what you want about cowherd, but the dude is good at his job. It’s because he doesn’t sound exactly the same as every other show.

A lot of the other shows seem exactly the same, his show just sounds a bit different because of the way he thinks outside the box a bit.

He's good at making shite up, eloquently pitching it, and getting engagement.

He's admitted his job literally is just making shite up and getting paid for it

I think they need a flashy, energetic type of guy and ESPN will take care of the rest. Someone rah-rah like PJ Fleck or James Franklin might be best. Matt Campbell is a great young coach but I'm not sure even he would succeed at USC.

Hiring one of those "boring" names Cowherd listed or Bill O'Brien (who will be a hot name this offseason) isn't going to move the needle much in my opinion.

SC has had a lot of success with coaches who have some pro experience. John Robinson only had one season in the NFL before he took over in LA, but Pete Carroll had tons of experience in the NFL, including two stints as head coach.

The same is true for Miami as to Howard Schnellenberger. He coached in the NFL for 10+ seasons before taking over in Coral Gables.

Franklin seems to check most of the boxes for USCw, other than the NFL resume.

Stanford rehiring Bill Walsh was successful but he retired too early.

Nick Saban, won multiple NC

Bobby Petrino, took Pig to a Sugar Bowl but flames out everywhere but is considered successful by some

Dan Devine, won a NC with Notre Dame after leaving Green Bay

Bienemy would be a good get, but problem is some of his baggage. He had the bar fight, okay that was college so can be explained away. Had a FTA arrest as well. But the one that probably hurts him the most is the Sexual Harassment charge.

Lol he definitely does know a ton about sports, that's all he does all day every day. He does also make a lot of takes for clicks, both things can be true

Whoever gets Napier is the team that is going to be in the playoff hunt every year for the next 12 years.

No he doesn’t. He’s knows people around the game who give him info and he can’t even interpret that correctly because he thinks he knows better. Dude is an absolute moron when it comes to knowing the sports he covers.

He is a strange bird when you listen to him a lot. It's not necessarily hot take radio. Most days, he comes in with these Sociology 101 observations linking athletics and the corporate office world. It's somewhat unique at first, but gets old after a while.

I’d argue he watches as many games as anyone. You have to if you’re gonna talk every single day about the sport for 3 hours. Why do you think he doesn’t know what he’s talking about?
