I would say hire Rich Rod, but he ain't ever leaving West Virginia again.

Starting to think this a real possibility
Not sure what they were thinking with this hire but theoretically it should be a school friendly contract and easy to cut bait quickly
Unless Tulane truly doesn’t give a shite and wants to vote on dropping sports again
Even Wally English got 2 years... and he shouldn't have gotten 2 games.

I have no idea how you get fired and still immediately get hired at an upgrade. At this point, he is living off of his success at the D2 level.

Tulane is run by a bunch of regarded pussies with zero balls. This is known
Will Hall is unacceptable even by Tulane standards. Simply a bridge too far after taking some steps forward the last few years
I know shooting themselves in the foot after any success is their traditional M.O. but Hall has no business coaching D1 football

He better be (although they shouldn't wait that long).
And the man who hired the 15-30 coach needs to be gone too.

The Willie Hall hire was a panic move that’s gonna greatly set the program back.

Tulane is never going to be able to pony up the money to keep a coach like sumrall.
If a coach under 50 is winning big at Tulane he is going to leave. Everytime. And that’s ok.
If it happens several times in a row, FCS/CUSA/Sun Belt coaches will see it as a good place to make their bones and they can continually reload. Maybe even move up to the Big XII if they're respectable for long enough.
Their administration is full of morons so they'll make lazy hires like a guy who fell on his face in the Sun Belt. Fitts is a disaster on the academic side as well. Tanked their academic ranking, made test scores optional, and openly sucks Dr. Granny Killer's dick.

What you can't do is make hire that you think is more likely to stick around like they did with Scelfo over Rich Rod
Possibly the worst decision in their athletic history.
Sandy Barbour hired Rich Rod, and was overruled so they could hire the nepo baby. If they'd maintained their late 1990s success they could have landed an invite to a BCS conference and would be in better shape today.
The other mistakes (de-emphasizing sports in 1950, going independent in 1966, and moving to the Dome in 1975) could at least be seen as a good idea at the time. The Scelfo hire was downright stupid.

I’m still not sure why Will Hall was hired. Guy is a shite coach.

Really nice guy, good coordinator, but just doesn't have "it" as a head coach of a D1 team. Cut bait and move on.

I hope so. If they keep him around he's going to kill the program.

This approach has done well for Boise St and Memphis. Tulane might be a 'stepping stone' job but realistically most jobs in FBS are stepping stone jobs (even Power Jobs).

In retrospect they should have done everything to keep Willie fritz. He was the potential lifer for Tulane given his age and lack of big school interest.
Willie was bolting to Houston no matter what Tulane offered. His grandbabies are around Houston and his wife was flying there weekly to spend time with them. As soon as Houston opened up it was a done deal.
He had interest from power jobs but declined them. Mississippi St wanted him and Georgia Tech was going to announce him but the boosters threw a fit about hiring a 'group' coach.
