My friends in Chattanooga are all Braves fans and wouldn't bat an eye at driving down for a weekday game.
That will be soooo few people. And unless you are getting off work early, the gameday experience will be limited to Saturdays and Sundays. 20 dates per year maybe.

3 game weekend series.
Valid point. Will be much better on the weekend. Except that is when the city repaves everything.

Probably, and people like you who have no idea how Atlanta works.

Holy shite. Are you reading what I'm saying? MY gameday experience will be enhanced.
Getting off work early? Meh. We could make it down leaving right after 5 depending on first pitch. Missing an inning isn't a big deal and even then getting off an hour early from work shouldn't be hard for most friends.
And yeah 3 day series have been rough because of repaving in ATL. But you know what? That messes up our drive to Turner as well. So why not have a better stadium and experience after dealing with that mess? Instead we get to Turner and there isn't shite to do.
Also, hotels will be around the stadium it sounds like. I'll park my arse at the hotel and not leave all weekend if I want. Or stay with fiends around the city and we can figure it out.
I'm fine with some traffic as long the stadium and experience is worth it. I have made time to go to Turner over the years but improving the experience will entice me to make even more trips. Turner leaves a lot to be desired for an out of towner to come a few times a year.

Relax. All I am saying is that if you are getting there at gametime, the amenities outside the stadium mean nothing.

I was making a general comment about the idiocy of this entire city.

I already agreed with you on the weekend experience. Are your reading what I'M saying?

Good for you, but meaningless revenue in the big picture.

Accessing Turner field is a challenge as is the neighborhood itself. If not for a Braves game there is no reason to go that area of town. Despite the traffic challenges of the new location, the Braves are simply trying to get closer to the demographic of their average fan with the hope that they can develop a fan experience around the park.
Like in any city, accessing an area is highly improved by knowing all ingress/egress points. I live in Cobb Co close to I-285 and can drive to a Braves game and be in a seat in less than 30-minutes and that is with parking on the west side of 75/85S across from the stadium and walking, it's not difficult. A friend I go to a lot of games with lives in E. ATL and can be in a parking lot just south of the stadium and be in the stadium from that lot in 5 minutes, so his travel time is less than 15 minutes. This deal is about the Braves having a really shitty TV contract and - let's except the Uggs, BJ, D. Lowe, etc decisions by current Braves management for the moment - the inability to compete for better quality free agent players and retain veterans they would like to keep instead of having to depend largely on younger guys in the system. The Braves have a great farm system, but due to that crappy long term TV contract can not make decisions to help the team midstream or are totally screwed when making an Uggla decision with no means to jettison him and pick up another essential player to help the club.
I don't care if the Braves move to Cobb or not, I know the prospective site well and all the concomitant traffic issues and it would have little effect on me, but anyone who wants to believe it is about anything other than $ and positioning the team to become more economically viable/competitive and valuable to its owners is kidding themselves. I believe most Cobb residents are much more offput by the never ending SPLOST program and its waste of hundreds of millions of dollars compared to moving the Braves into Cobb. Regardless, until the potential tax impact is released it is a moot point.

except for the fact I've spent my 24 years growing up in Atlanta, driving in Atlanta traffic since I had my permit

And you seem like someone barely out of their teens who resorts to name calling when people disagree with them.
I've lived here longer than you've been alive.
At 24, you basically have 2 years of adulthood. And that is not meant to be anything derogatory.

Government at its finest. That's a damn shame.

fricking disgusting. Hope Cobb taxpayers get some lube before taking it up the rear financially.

It will be all fun and games and excitement for a few years until the burden becomes reality. By then the current powers that be will be forgotten and laughing all the way to the bank with their lined pockets.

Doraville made some sense, but this location has more appeal I think. Doraville is certainly better than Turner, but that side of 285 definitely isn't on the rise. Of course, in time a stadium could help that, but as far as initial relocation appeal, I think a lot of people were pretty "meh" on Doraville.
Now compared to Vine City it is paradise, and I certainly supported the Falcons going there.

two weeks we'll know how bad it's going to be, but that's not promising for cobb residents.

There are plenty of us ITPers that go to a ton of games every season. Look at the map. It's solid red from downtown to the perimeter.

Wut. I work right by there and it's brutal without the Braves going Cobb Pkwy or 75.
75 is bad at the merge and into Marietta (which is past the future stadium). Like I said the traffic coming from 75 will be no worse than the current situation.
ETA I'm sure they will have cops directing traffic all around Northside, cumberland pkwy,41, the exits off 75 etc like they do now at Turner.

When coupled with the "no motel/hotel tax and no SPLOST" comment, it looks really bad for, say, the people who went to East Cobb to avoid Fulton property taxes.

is part of the proposal to include traffic upgrades?... I know people are assuming it will be, but has anyone said it specifically?
Good article from the AJC this morning... LINK
MARTA didn't even know about the planned move until it was announced. GDOT didn't work with them on site selection either.

Dude. I can literally step outside of my office and see 75 just inside the Perimeter. You're WAY understating the traffic.
