MARTA didn't even know about the planned move until it was announced. GDOT didn't work with them on site selection either.
But surely they took those things into account!

Dude. I can literally step outside of my office and see 75 just inside the Perimeter. You're WAY understating the traffic.
The merge is terrible and 75N is terrible up through Kennesaw. My point is people going 75N will be exiting at Cumberland/Northside and using those road to get to the stadium. Those roads will be policed.
75N is a breeze from midtown up to about West Paces and then it gets backed up bc of the merge.
75N from west paces to the future Braves exits is much much better than getting across the connector.

It is amazing that people think governments actually know what is going on and how to do things properly.
I'm not surprised Marta didn't know, and this means they will never be involved. It would take 29 years to aquire property and build rail to there. By then the Braves will be moving to Dawsonville.

They don't care about MARTA...MARTA riders represented 6% of attendance. They can replace that with access to more suburbs. There's a reason they weren't concerned.
As far as traffic, they just need a way to keep 75-285 merge traffic separated from Braves traffic. That will take construction, but I don't think it will be major. Just a couple of access points. Nothing like a new MARTA route.

How can it not be major?
I think Cobbites will hate the Braves by 2017.

Where did you see that? MARTA is always fricking packed with Braves fans headed downtown when we go down to the Ted for games. It's even worse on the way back.

I will actually say that it does usually seem pretty packed most of the time I go to games but then again I am typically take marta at the better games and drive to the lesser ones.
I know for falcons games it is packed.
MARTA is actually ridiculously convenient for me as I can walk to the Lenox station.

The article says:

Before Opening Day 2017, a diverging diamond interchange will be open on Windy Hill Road and I-75. Cobb Parkway also will be widened along a one -mile stretch between Paces Mill and Akers Mill roads from five to six lanes.
I'm not sure what what will do to traffic as I'm not at all familiar with Cobb County.

Yeah, after big games you're packed into the trains so tightly that you can't move.

That's probably because you can take MARTA right to the Dome. It's not nearly as busy after Hawks games though.

Pretty much the same here only I just take the Atlantic Station shuttle over to Arts Center Station.

When coupled with the "no motel/hotel tax and no SPLOST" comment, it looks really bad for, say, the people who went to East Cobb to avoid Fulton property taxes.
I already pay Cobb and some city property taxes on three different properties, no one put a gun to your head to avoid Fulton. My desire to pay higher property taxes or enrich the Braves' owners is zero, and if you research the waste in past SPLOST expenditures and the totally pathetic voter turnout for something that approximates ~ $800M every 5-years you might understand the thinking. And I am not even a tea party'er, et al, just am totally against government officials misallocating resources and wasting tax payer money.
Let's put it this way, when is Blank going to come forward and show the revenue and profit splits accrued to the tax payers on the new stadium and all the non-Falcons events, parking, and concession streams he will control???

Wow. The city plans to build a 60-acre, middle-class development in its place. A middle class development in the 'hood. That seems like it'll be a huge success.

Did good things for Pleasant Hill. Takes some getting used to though.

When they were building the one at Ashford Dunwoody, it was brutal. However, now that it's done that area is OK.

They wouldn't build anything while the Braves were there, balked at putting money towards infrastructure to keep the area somewhat up to date because Reed doesn't want to burden the taxpayers...but we're supposed to believe they're going to do a 180, and invest a ton of money into an area they promised to two decades ago?

That's all well and good, but it takes a new stadium to have work done on an interchange that has been hell for over 15-years, especially the 285/I75 split. Big money talks, why don't they go ahead and build the outer northern loop while they are at it.

Oh, they're tearing the Ted down in the process... LINK

I could have swore I heard that in a video or something...but I can't find much in text. All I got was this:

Lance Lamberton, Cobb Taxpayers Association
I can’t say that I’m necessarily against it, but I’ve got some concerns, such as how much Cobb County will be paying towards this, and will it result in tax relief for Cobb? Also, I’m concerned if this is going to be an opening to allow MARTA to expand into Cobb County. If it’s a $450 million price tag to Cobb County taxpayers, how is that cost going to be recouped? If it could result in a net tax cut to the county, then we would could support that, but with a price tag that high, the likelihood is just the opposite: More taxes.
Basically, the position of the Cobb Taxpayers Association is that public money should not go to pay for a private entertainment venue, which this obviously is. And I’m concerned about MARTA. I think MARTA in and of itself is a white elephant. It’s been a very costly boondoggle. It has not performed at all the way it was promised. It costs way too much to transport people. It’s an underutilized facility. I think bringing it into Cobb County, there’s the issue of, would crime follow? It would also necessitate a permanent 1 percent dedicated sales tax.
Moreover, the location of the stadium is going to put real stress on commuters in Cobb County at certain times when there are certain games. It’s going to make my commute more difficult and, I’m sure, (for) a lot of other people in Cobb County. If anything, this is may be part of a plan to make traffic so unbearable, Cobb voters will be clamoring for a MARTA extension. As such, it would be a Trojan horse. And yet MARTA only accommodates 7 percent of the people that go to Braves games. And don’t believe the Cobb Chamber hype that this is going to bring economic growth and prosperity to Cobb. Historically, these projects over promise and under deliver. Just think of what its done, or not done, for the neighborhoods around Turner Field. The more I think of it, the more I think this is a gambit to get a better deal out of Fulton County and the city of Atlanta.

Meh. Just from my experience I think he's low balling the numbers.
Also... there starts the bitching about MARTA bringing in crime. You know... because the criminal element can't hop on CCT and get up there anyway.

Yeah, I know. That's what I find so ridiculous about Reed's notion that all of a sudden, the city of Atlanta is gonna take a fierce interest in that area once the Braves had enough and moved on. I'd always liked Kasim Reed, and still do for all that he has accomplished compared to his predecessors. But he looks foolish right now.

is part of the proposal to include traffic upgrades?... I know people are assuming it will be, but has anyone said it specifically?
They probably won't get any upgrades on the interstate unless the I-75 widening project happens. They will get numerous access points onto Windy Hill and Cobb Pkwy. Here's the most recent article I could find on the I-75 project.

MARTA riders represented 6% of attendance.
That doesn't surprise me. I started going to games via MARTA when I was at Georgia Tech, but it sucked having to walk all the way through Underground to get to a bus. Whoever came up with that idea wanted to kill the transit option.
