Is it just me or is Oregon a tad bit overrated? Buffs have been in 3 highly pressurized games under the spotlight already. If ducks get off to a cold start, it could be a dog fight

They were serious. Personally I think CU has been so bad for so long that previous coaches had probably never done this, and they probably haven't paid attention to how other programs practice because they're just casual CFB fans. So when Deion does something that's just pretty standard, it seems like something new and a big deal to them.
