CJ Stroud has now declared for the draft
Posted by RLDSC FAN

And rumors are he might stay another year

With whispers of C.J. Stroud returning for NIL $, here's the signing bonuses by pick # from 2022
1: $24.3m
5: $19.9m
10: $12.1m
20: $7.4m
33: $3.9m
50: $2.3m
Hard to see the $ being close if he's a top-10 pick and doubt he'd go any higher in next year's loaded QB class

Ohio State QB CJ Stroud has until Monday to declare for the NFL draft. He has yet to do so.
Could Ohio State be putting together a massive NIL package to try and keep him another year?
Imagine the kings ransom the Bears could demand if CJ Stroud stays with that #1 pick

You got to think to keep CJ Stroud Ohio State would need to offer more than the about 7 million CJ could make as Pick #2 plus insurance plan if hes to get injured.I've heard HS prospects landing 10+ mil NIL deals so it's not out of question OSU is doing what it can to keep CJ

Allegedly Will Levis' odds of going #1 dropped from 20-1 to 10-1 overnight which spurred the wildfire of rumors on Twitter.

Maybe he doesn't want to play (and get killed) with the Texans.

Did Houston change their stance? A couple of weeks ago they were locked for Young and multiple NFL guys said they had Young ahead of Stroud.

On one hand, I can understand it, and he wants to come back to try to finish the job and win a title w/the Bucknuts.
OTOH, his draft stock will never be higher

Justin Fields declared the morning of the deadline.
Obviously NIL changes things, but Stroud waiting to declare doesn't really mean a whole lot.

and that's just the signing bonus. the full contract is guaranteed for 1st rounders, so he's turning down over $30m to stay in school.
must be some good pussoir up in columbus

And it's not just NIL v. Draft money year one. Staying also means you hit free agency a year later.
As an athlete, you have a limited time period to make generational money. In this situation where his draft stock won't clearly be higher next year, staying is an absolute terrible decision.

Good, I wish more premier guys would stay the extra year.

Hmmm? Loads of money and a career vs. risk getting injured for something who's only value is to brag about. Decisions, decisions?

Can't help but think of guys like Matt Barkley who came back, got injured, and tumbled to the 4th round and never got a big payday because of that decision.

Allegedly an $30M+ insurance policy is also included in the NIL package

I know his weapons at UK weren’t very good, but I’m just not seeing it with Levis. Threw for less than 100 yards and 3 picks against OUR SECONDARY. The same secondary Spencer Rattler shredded just 3 weeks later. Also lost at home to Vandy.
Obviously, draft experts know far more than me and they love his arm strength. I’m just skeptical.

Those insurance policies aren’t really worth a shite

Yeah but he got to be hyped as a USC starting QB Heisman candidate for 4 years
