No Joe Mixon, No Tee Higgins (potentially), No Tyler Boyd... Man they had one of the most skillful offensive cores in the NFL smh

To be expected once you pay your QB. They have to draft well now

Paying dudes costs money. They have to figure out DJ Reader's situation and Chase will command $35-40M AAV shortly.

Mixon was also incredibly overpaid and very meh.

Wasn't that RB behind Mixon really impressive though? Chase Brown?

I see they got Zach Moss and he's projected to start over him. That seems odd to me.

Mixon was one of the worst RBs in the NFL by every metric. He’s terrible in pass protection and route running, and his yards after contact and missed tackles rate was one of the worst in the league. His only value was locker room intangibles.

The NFL compensation system is purposely structured to ensure a few teams with a ton of money can't horde all of the great players. Franchise QBs cost a LOT of money. And when choosing which WR to give a big deal to out of Chase, Higgins and Boyd, I think that choice is pretty easy. On the other hand, NO ONE is paying RBs big money. Mostly because its the easiest position to replace with "cheap" labor without a significant drop in production.

More often than not, great QBs make good WRs, and the Bengals will likely be in position to grab a WR is a deep WR draft. In fact, LSU fans may turn in their purple and gold for black and orange if the Bengals take Brian Thomas

RB is fungible they will be fine there.
Higgins can asked to be traded but they don’t have to trade him, he’s not the first player to whine about being franchised. If they do trade him, then they will have extra draft capital and it’s a deep WR draft. Their fortunes hinge on Burrow’s health

Chase will get 30-35 max. Tyreek is the highest paid at 30/yr right now.

And JJ is negotiating his new deal and will surpass that.

Chase, coming a year later, will get the same/more than JJ.

I’m pretty high on Chase Brown, Mixons backup. Not even sure we’re gonna trade Tee. The main weapons next year IMO will be

Chase WR
Tee WR
Brown RB
Iosivas WR
Moss RB
Gesicki TE
WR draft pick

I’m fine with it

this is a negative? isn't this the guy who dropped the wide open pass on 3rd down which would have guaranteed a superbowl win for the bengals?

unless he's a superstar WR who had that unfortunate big drop, no one will lose sleep about him

The Bengals were usually a playoff team when QB Palmer and Dalton were on their rookie deals. When their rookie deals were done & they got paid the Bengals sucked. It’s what they do. Going to be a long 4-5 years for Burrow & Chase without much help.

Bengals should make a move up to get one of the WR. They could package their 18th pick and Tee Higgins to move up to 8-9 and take Malik or Odunze. Gives them another good WR on a rookie deal for a few years.

Mixon sucked. They should’ve kept Perine as part of a 1-2 punch.
