re: Chris Scelfo was 6-5 two years after TU went 12-0. Desormeaux is 5-5 two years after ULL…

Napier should be available in a few weeks

Nah. Maybe next year
His recruiting class is currently ranked # 3. He’ll be alright for this season at least

University leadership doesn’t like any real success in football, because with that brings expectations. We can’t have any of that.
What’s the capacity of y’all’s stadium?
I want to say I can’t understand why y’all don’t have bigger crowds, but maybe I do understand it.

Is it really the coach or just that these lesser programs have the stars align for a year or two once in awhile and it was never going to be sustainable?

Coaching. This is 75% coaching, 25% players.

Desormeaux had the exact same contract and staff commitments that Napier had in year one.
So they cut they budget for head coach by 2/3 but left the assistant pool the same? Okay
Just off the top of my head, Napier had Sale, a P5 coach, Juluke, a P5 recruiting guru, and Ron Roberts, a sitting FCS head coach (and a successful one). Sale and Juluke were in their late 30s/early 40s. Few G5 staffs have that level of girth.

That’s the thing. Napier had contacts and a network in the coaching community.
Desormeaux has former teammates and the greater new Iberia area to network. You can give Desormeaux the same money for assistants but he won’t get a comparable staff. They also could have paid Desormeaux half the money they are paying him and he would have still taken the job.

Ron Roberts is Auburns DC not an FCS coach

When he was hired he was a sitting FCS head coach. But he had also mentored and trained Dave Aranda and Pete Golding among others

One of his reasonings was because Moscona refuses to call them UL.
I do need to add, though, even though in my previous comment I did acknowledge that said UL podcast guy is one of those "look at me" folks, Moscona DOES have a history of always wanting to degrade the Cajuns athletic program. He has a history of cheap pot-shots.
That's fine and all, but that would (hopefully) have been the biggest driver behind the pushback of him being on the airwaves in Lafayette, which I can understand. There's other personalities on 103.7 that don't call us "Louisiana" or "UL", but Moscona makes an effort to go much beyond that. In fact, he's quite the insufferable d-bag in that aspect. I, personally, view him as a loser.

You must accept that you’re a stepping stone and hire a mercenary who’s hungry to win and leave as quickly as possible. Then go hire another one.
That's exactly the mentality we should have, but our university administration views that as "too much work" or "too much emphasis on sports".

And the recent "legalized" combo of the no-sit transfer portal and NIL has made it even much worse in that aspect. All that did was give even more abilities for P5s to poach away players that shine their first or second years at G5.

This has hurt the Cajun program more than anything . In the last 2 years, it has prematurely lost 10 of the most talented players on the roster.
That and the Desormeaux hire has killed all the momentum that was built
From the outside looking in the NIL/ portal combo has also hurt LA Tech and USM (traditionally strong programs with limited budgets) among others

I think Tulane should try to get Jon Sumrall, if he doesn’t get scooped up by a bigger program
Seems like a P5 gig will be his next step

Napier is the first head football coach in ULL history to leave the program for a better job
just wrap your head around that for second

Moscona and Scarborough are the worst when it comes to this.
What's ironic is that Scarborough is a UL dropout.
