Just because a person doesn't think of themselves as a bigot doesn't mean they aren't via their actions and beliefs.

Well you can't call yourself a Christian and not believe homosexuality is a sin. But let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Or you could be an educated Christian and realize how archaic the Leviticus laws are (or to realize how terrible of a person Paul actually was). I follow one man- Jesus Christ. Not Moses and not Paul

Ignorant because of the implication that homosexuality is a choice because he called it a sin.
As for choice, that is simply you trying to steer the debate into a more comfortable area for yourself. Broussard didn't say that. Furthermore, those that pretend to know exactly what makes a gay person gay are ridiculous.

But you could say this about both sides, depending on what they believe...
You call him a bigot/ignorant...he calls you a sinner.

As long as whoever has the opinion isn't trying to force whatever they believe onto others and/or bash them/treat them unfairly then it shouldn't be an issue and should be a non-story

I will say, that standing behind religion is kinda getting laughable. Homosexuality as a sin isn't like the basis for the religion and the bible is full of offensive shite that no one adheres to
Which is your opinion. And you should be able to say it too.
My problem is that the article talks about him being under fire because of it. Why should he be under fire with anyone for his opinion?

Well that's a choice now isn't it.
Calling homosexuality a sin implies that is also a choice, which is a preposterous way of thinking in 2013.

As a straight person I honestly dont understand how a homosexual can willingly be attracted to members of the same sex. It goes against all my natural attractions+with all the societal implications it doesnt make sense. Therefore is why I can understand that someone is born that way. HOWEVER. Just because they were born that way does not mean they have to engage in the behavior and thats where it becomes a sin.
I am programmed to want to screw every female Im attracted to. I resist temptation. Just because someone is born with homosexual inclinations is no excuse for engaging in sin.
Somethings are morally wrong. Its ok to say it and take a stand. Doesnt mean you hate that person. If you see someone driving off a cliff and you dont say anything then that would be wrong.

I think it's pretty obvious at this point that it's not a "choice"

I wouldn't call his comments hateful, but I would call them extremely ignorant.
Why does his comment/view have to be ignorant.
Why can't they just be his views?
Never once did he say that others should accept his view as the only way.
Not ignorant at all.
I would say that Broussard is more brave for "coming out as a Christian" than any homosexual is for coming out gay.

Having sex is a person's choice, which persuasion not so much.

actively spending money to keep gay marriage illegal is completely different than simply believing being gay is a sin.

Women are inferior to men. It's in the Bible and I should face no repercussions for stating this belief on national TV. Right?

No, as long as you don't act on it.

Homosexuality is a sin according to Christianity. That's not debatable. Does that mean if you are a Christian you are a bigot? Of course not. there are plenty of gays who are Christian. But like I said, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Basically, all humans are sinners. those who happen to be homosexual are no worse than anyone else.

Where did Christ talk about Homosexuality?. I'll wait.
Posted on 4/29/13 at 7:37 pm to Fun Bunch
In the chapter previous to the section where it calls homosexuality a sin, it also calls eating meat with the blood still in it a sin. So, you're all on the exact same level as homosexuals in the eyes of God as in another verse, he calls "all sins equal"
