Nobody cares about the Rose Bowl anymore and I'm pretty sure the area they live cares even less. Why are we still acting like this bowl is special? Especially when they've gone far out of their way in the past to choose undeserving teams to "preserve tradition" over deserving teams.
The Rose Bowl had the same number of viewers as one of the playoff games this year. People still care

There hasn't been a season where the 4 seed was deserving. No reason to bring in an undeserving 5 through 12.
What?

No one cares about big10 vs pac12 game

No it’s not. I get that people think the NCAA tournament is exciting and all that other nonsense, but as a way to determine a champion/the best team, it’s atrocious.

The Rose Bowl has the highest two TV ratings of non-semi-final NY6 games since the CFP started so.

You do know the 4 has won it all twice?

Well this isn't the ncaa. So there's that

Less people will have a shot. If you're tired of seeing Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, etc in the playoffs wait until you expand the field. You'll never be rid of them. Your only real hope of keeping them out is to choke them off in the regular season. Let's face it, who are you going to bet on; that Ohio State/Oklahoma/Alabama level blue blood who stubbed their toe and snuck in as an 11-seed, or that NC State/West Virginia/Iowa State Cinderella that had its once a generation miracle season and is a 2- or 3-seed? You expand the playoffs and you are guaranteeing it will be nothing but blue bloods.

Im so tired of the Rose Bowl thinking they can hold college football hostage with their BS
They literally did. They don’t just think they can.

Amazing how the NCAA has ZERO problem with the 24 team format in the FCS, but when it comes to FBS level the powers that be clutch their pearls over the amount of games.

Go back and read my original statement.
NCAA = FCS
Powers that be = FBS

If you expand to 12, you would be asking some teams to potentially play 17 games right?
If they were student athletes I might care, but they are paid professionals now.

1. The NCAA has no jurisdiction over post-season play in the FBS beyond imposing penalties on schools/athletes who violate NCAA rules.
2. The FCS all play an 11-game season and do not have conference championship games. The most games an FCS team will play in a season is 16, even with the 24-team playoff.

Remove a regular season game
Disallow FCS matchups
Success

Matter of fact, I think the conferences are against expansion because they don't want to lose that conference championship game
The Big XII didn't have a conference championship game for a few years, and people, including many on this board, cried about them not having one. Particularly in 2014 when TCU and Baylor both had a shot to make the CFP. Only then did they ask the NCAA for an exception to have it again.
I'm not arguing for or against conference championship games. I'm just saying that the problem with college football for the last 30 years has been how reactionary it can be.
Constantly tinkering with systems doesn't necessarily make things better. It just creates new issues to argue about.

I'm fine with 4. Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Washington, Florida State, and Oklahoma have had their opportunities, even while Bama/Clemson/OSU/UGA/LSUhave owned the format.

Rose bowl’s tradition cheated fans out of Penn st vs Nebraska in 93 and Michigan vs Nebraska in 97. Kiss my arse grand daddy of them all.
Also UGA vs USC in 2007. That would have been a hell of a game but instead we got USC-Illinois and UGA-Hawaii, two total mismatches
