That’s targeting but it also was somewhat what you’re taught. He didn’t duck but he launched. It’s so unfair at times.

The rule is the rule. But what is the defender supposed to do? The QB moves back into the hit. He got hit in the facemask but how does a defender adjust?

This is such bullshite...the guy has a helmet on his head, what's he supposed to avoid contact? How do you sack a QB today? Gently hug his belly?

These rules, often misinterpreted by refs have gotten crazy....where, what are you supposed to do as a player?

Targeting occurs when a player uses any part of their body, typically the helmet, to make forcible contact with an opponent's head or neck.

Committee - "ASU's best defender can't play in the first half, and we just couldn't justify them jumping ahead of Boise State:"

Running full speed at the QB, head up, the QB ducks into the hit, helmets collide. That is not the spirit of the targeting rule.

LOL. what? I hate that targeting is a rule. That said, that was the most blatant example of targeting since the inception of the rule. He had a 15 yard running start directly at the player, went in high, lead with his head, made contact with the opponents head and the to top it off, drove the player into the ground and made head to head contact AGAIN.

Oh. and then he celebrated while making the go to sleep motion.

Its this shite that gave the NCAA attorneys the power to make the rule in the first place.

Becht clearly turns his head into the defender at the last second. You are asking these guys to defy physics in hundredths of seconds at full speed.

I guess he could have gone in and speared him in the lower half and given him a career ending knee injury to avoid being ejected.

The rule is insane and how about we put some agency on the offensive players. Don’t give up a screaming free rusher to hit the qb. We see targeting here and on awful throws over the middle where the qb hangs their receiver out to dry. We’re incentivizing that play by bailing out the offensive players with a severe penalty.

Oh bullshite, the QB isn't defenseless, he sees him coming a mile away.

The two guys are the same height, helmets are going to collide on a sack.
