Kobe at 6 makes the entire list invalid. I regret opening this thread.

That's definitely one of the things that they got right. Insane to think Kobe would be above Steph, Jokic, or Shaq. Debatable with Duncan.

Anthony Davis being on there is kind of a joke.

Iverson was an inefficient streak shooter. I just never got the love for him.

nope, but my point was that the top 5 I listed would be era proof. Obviously Jokic would be fine offensively in any era, but he would struggle on defense against the hyper athletic bigs of the 90s. He's not even a great defender now.
The list is specifically about one era, though.

A lot of Shaqs career took place in the 20th century

I was saying that I thought that part of the reason those were the best 5 of their era, was because they would dominate in any era. There would always be a spot for those 5 on any team and scheme.

Westbrook is certainly ahead of Harden. Also, Paul Pierce should be on there over Tatum.

A common misconception just because his vertical sucks and he doesn’t swat balls 15 feet into the stands.

He’s lead the league in Defensive Box +\- several years in a row, leads in the league in kicked balls, leads the league in deflections, was top 3 in steals this past year. Advanced metrics and stats put him higher than 4 time DPOY Gobert. He’s a very good defender, everyone just looks at blocks though.

How are these two thoughts in your head at the same time?

Jokic has a more robust game but even so, what he is now isn’t as dominant as what Shaq was from 99-03.

He was that good at the rim and in the paint

Duncan should be ahead of Curry.
Harden way too high.

I think Shaq should be lower, just on the basis of half his prime was in the 20th century.

It's almost impossible to judge how Joker would play D in the first half of the 2000s or how those bigs would handle today's wide open game.

In 2005 only 5 teams were shooting 20 or more 3s per game w/the Suns as the highest at 24 per game. There were even 2 teams that shot less than 10 per game in the Clippers ans Jazz. This past season every single team shot more than 30 w/the Nuggets on the low end at 31.9 per and the Celtics topping the league w/48.2.

Since NBA is not a normal top topic figured I’d piggyback and post the Thunder 25-26 City Edition threads here vice starting a new one. Not bad but hate the Loves yellow logo messing up the vibe
